A few months back eBay removed the Shipping and Payment Tab from the desktop version of their site.
It seems innocuous enough until a buyer messages me to ask about the shipping cost of quantity 5 to their destination.
In the past you would just bring up the listing, click on the shipping and payments tab, put the buyers zip code in and change the quantity from one to 5 and wallah. You get the shipping charge the buyer will be charged the the item at checkout.
The same goes for an international buyer.
As a buyer you had the same option. The shipping calculator was already broken so whenever you are ordering quantity of an item. You would very the quantity in the shipping calculator to get the optimum order size what would lower the shipping cost per unit. no it seems logical that ordering more would be lower shipping cost but this is not the case in fact very often we see unit shipping cost for two pieces being higher than the cost of a single piece.
So now as a buyer cannot see what the shipping cost is for multiple units before you go to checkout and a seller cannot see the shipping cost for quantity greater than 1 to respond to a buyer query .
This is insane even for eBay. We get used to the incompetence and a lot of times we can see where the change benefits eBay bottom line even if it makes no sense to us as buyers or sellers but this change is just out there.
Please someone tell me that I am wrong. Its been months and I am yet to find a solution. I can click the See Details like beside the shipping cost displayed and it allows me to change country and or postal code but there is not box to change quantity so you get shipping cost for only a single unit.
