Cancelling Purchases

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum although I've had my shop on Ebay since 2004.

I've noticed a trend amongst certain buyers: it seems they will bid on items and then request to cancel the purchase. Afterwards, they send a lame story that their 'cat' was bidding without them knowing or they bid the 'wrong' amount.

In my opinion, they are trying to sway future bidders should you list the item again. Previous bidders or potential future buyers of the re-listed item will see that the item has 'sold' and will wonder what is wrong with the item, thus resulting in lower bids.

I believe that if I'm forced to cancel a transaction, it should be removed from eBay's 'SOLD'  archives if the transaction was not completed. If I haven't received payment, the transaction has not occurred at all.

Ebay should do more to fix this problem, as it is affecting the trusted selling / buying platform. I know you can set your account to block bidders with several strikes, but they can just open a new account and continue their predatory tactics.

Below are two examples of ridiculous messages I've encountered. The first one is a seller!

Hello, I am sorry for this confusion but someone else has had access to this account and bid on this item. This item is not something I plan to purchase. Please look at my history as I have perfect reviews. I received emails at work today regarding this but now that I am home I see that my family member has tried to purchase this
Sorry for the confusion, You can leave a negative review if you desire but this should not have happened and I apologize. Again my apologies

Hi, I've noticed I won the auction but my bid maximum was 205.25. I don't know whats going on, I think there is a glitch with eBay system ? Please cancel the transaction. Thanks

Cancelling Purchases

Re message #1

1. The family member didn't try but did purchase the item.

2. Item is "..not something I plan to purchase", your family member not you that wants it.

3. Confusion ?

Just allow your family member to pay for the item, that they want and that they bought.

I'd file a UID and put them on my BBL.
