A seller in the UK has an item that I’d like to buy, but the seller doesn’t ship to the USA, where I am. I have a friend in the UK whom I could have the package sent to and they could then send it to me.
How would I have the item sent to a different address than mine? Will I even be allowed to bid on the auction since I have a US address? I’d hate to bid and win and then have the seller cancel just because I have a US address. I’ve never had anything sent to a different address before, so I’m not sure when or how to do this. Thanks.

Go to your Account Settings. Under Personal Info is "Addresses"
From there you can edit your addresses. You want to add a new shipping address.
This will add to the shipping addresses on file you can toggle between during Check Out. I have like 7 different addresses saved if I'm being honest.
You may be blocked from bidding if your default ship to address is not an address the seller ships to... you would find this out by attempting to bid and seeing if it goes through ... You may need to temporarily make the UK address the "default" shipping address. This is done in the same area as already described to add the address. I know that I had a lot of issues since some sellers don't ship to PO Boxes so I had to change my default, although I ship to PO box most often. I constantly need to toggle for different orders.
BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN CHECKING OUT THAT YOU ALWAYS SELECT THE CORRECT SHIP TO ADDRESS WHEN YOU HAVE MULTIPLE ADDRESSES ON FILE ..... TOO MANY HORROR STOREIS....

Another, frankly, simpler way to do it is when you get to the payment page BEFORE you click to pay you will see your address. Next to it will be an EDIT button. Click that and enter the friend's address then click save. Then when you pay the seller will see that address, not yours. It is a one time change.

True, I had in mind that it's a good possibility the OP may be blocked from bidding due to seller not shipping to buyers address. (I believe that happens if buyer's location is explicitly excluded?). Then I believe my method is required to be able to then set as default address and be able to bid in the first place. I could've explained that better. Brain turns to mush after 2am

Thanks so much! That info is really helpful.

No problem. One more note I would add is if this address is a one time deal, I would suggest deleting the address from your account after using it. That way you don't accidentally ship to the UK items you intended for the US in the future.
