I have noticed a problem for some time with the calculated shipping being very high on the buyers side. I know the weight and box size prior to listing all my items but I have been getting buyers telling me the shipping way too high. When someone buys an item their shipping cost is 30% too high not including my ebay discount. Has anyone had this issue before and maybe a fix for it. Ebay has been no help with this issue so far. Also these box sizes are not excessive the average is 12x12x8

usually I start to think of large packages when I read a shipping problem
the box you describe sounds like a #7 which is about 7-8 inches high
its way under a cubic foot that would have a surcharge
if you are using UPS they have a long list of extras or surcharges
USPS is easier to figure out for me
most of the time a discrepancy is related to the figures that you input when you set up the shipping calculator

You are saying that the price displayed is higher than it should be (based on what?)
One thing I noticed is your listings default to Priority Mail Prices on the search screen (which are higher than parcel select)
I also tried to adjust the calculated shipping on this item:
Wenger Swiss Made 7297X/T 40mm Men's Quartz Military Watch Nylon Nato Strap
and no matter what zip code I entered, the price did not change?

The shipping calculator for USPS postage in eBay listings is 99.99% accurate. If you have an exception to this, please provide details as requested in the other post: Package weight, both ZIP Codes, both exact postage prices, and service used (Priority, Parcel Select Ground, etc.).

When there is something I want to buy on eBay, I always check the shipping.
If it seems too high, I simply hit the back arrow and find another listing/seller.
Don't these buyers see the shipping price when looking at the listing?
If they do see it, then go ahead and purchase anyway, hard (for me, any way) to understand their complaint.

It changed for me, using ZIP Codes 60606 and 02190. Maybe you accidentally tried ZIP Codes that are all the same zone for this seller.

I will get those later as I'm at work. I generally find the lowest carrier and ship it that way. If there is $3 or more I will refund them the difference. I don't want buyers thing I gouging them on shipping as some sellers I've seen

ok....you are correct....
i used my usual 90210 and 10025 (west and east coast)....your 02190 worked as did 60606
1st time for everything ....

You gotta have a midwest ZIP Code for testing shipping costs for the midwest sellers. For shipping cost exercises I use my own ZIP Code (on the east coast), plus 90210 for western sellers, or 60606 (Chicago) for sellers in the flyover states.
