I never dealt with this before and this is the first place I turn to so I figured I would post this here.
Item purchased Oct 27th.
Item shipped Oct 28th.
Item delivered Oct 30th.
Buyer wants return Dec 16th.
Listing/item in question: https://www.ebay.com/itm/113930924879
They're claiming it doesn't record. I listed all the issues with it and it did in fact record before I sent it out. I tested all the faults on it and added them in the listing. 😕 .
I just checked paypal and there's a hold on the total amount + shipping.
I just have one of those feelings that it's not going to come back in its original condition if this comes down to a return.
What would you do? Any tips? Bend over and take it?
Thanks for any feedback.

That's what I said, but maybe they were testing it for an xmas gift and just figured it out.
That being said. It did record before I sent it out. I have zero idea what the issue is. If it didn't record I would have listed such as I listed numerous faults on it.
I have until DEC 19th to reply. After that ebay steps in. Was just wanting to know the best option.

After 47 days you should be able to deny the return since eBay has a 30 day limit.
Your buyer could file with PP but would have to pay the return shipping $$.
When/if you get the package back refund the buyer (may be PP will do an auto refund from held payment)
Good luck hope all works out.

@sacrux
Did they file on Ebay or Pay Pal?
If they filed on Ebay, it's past their 30 day return period and you should be able to deny the return.
They can file a claim on Pay Pal for 180 days and since they claim it doesn't work right, good chance they'll make you take it back.

With a hold on paypal; sounds like buyer filed on Paypal; Ebay would NOT place a hold on funds after 30 days.

This is a Paypal claim? If so, you must accept it, but the buyer has to pay the return shipping cost.
If you don't accept it, Paypal will refund the buyer and let him keep it.
There really is no way to successfully fight this.

Contact Paypal and explain this is a used vintage item and hope you get a sympathetic CSR to close the case in your favor.

Then you just answered your own question. Decline. The rest about 'holds' etc. is probably just boiler plate, or it's automatic for a small or new seller.

Here is the screenshot in my paypal:
Seems paypal doesn't even know that the package was delivered.

Option to decline you should do exactly that, way past any acceptable return date, when the case is closed in your favor you are also protected from Negative feedback.
