Help! I just sold a coat on ebay, it was my first time selling anything. I bought the coat a few years ago but didn't keep the recipet so I didn't have proof of purchase. I had a lot of pictures on my listing and it was very clear what the item was. I even had pictures of all the tags saying it was certified down. Now, the buyer messaged me (extremely rudely) saying that the coat is fake, which I know isn't true. Not sure what to do because I don't have any way of proving it isn't fake since I didn't keep the reciept. Definitley don't want to accept a return, just want this to be over. Advice?

Just simply tell the buyer to return for refund. Don't get In to any lengthy discussions. The buyer MAY be looking to get an after dales discount - DON'T do it simply say "Return for Refund do it liek a broken record if need be.

You have no choice if the buyer has opened up a return claiming that the item is not as described. Accept the return.
Your biggest worry, as a new seller of a high dollar item, is actually getting back the item you sold ... hopefully you are not dealing with a thief.

Sometimes when a buyer emails you with this type of complaint after a purchase, they are fishing for a partial refund. And sometimes they actually do want to return the item as they believe it to be fake or whatever. It is hard to tell in the beginning which is the case. There is only one way you will find out for sure.
Send your buyer an email response that you are sorry they feel there is an issue. If they would like, you would be willing to accept a return on the item. Once you get it back you will issue their refund.
If they are wanting a partial refund, you will hear from them again just complaining about the item and trying to ignore your solution of returning the item. If they do that, simply write them back and say return for refund. If they are serious, they will return the item to you. If they are wanting a partial refund, they will most likely just go away.
But offer to accept the return. If they file a Request for return, Ebay will force you to accept it if you don't do it voluntarily. So save yourself a little grief and offer the return option.
Good Luck and know you are in good company. This kind of thing has happened to most of us sellers.
