Buyer's claim on returning item doesn't make sense and unsure what to do next

I had a buyer have a return request (via eBay's automated return policy) approved saying the item was "smaller than the photo" in their words.

But the listing clearly states the correct size of the item and I've sent them the label of the item that is accurate to the description. These aren't custom made and are produced in mass quantity so they're all identical. The photos taken are of the listed item.

eBay has put a timer on the request and I'm not sure how to proceed with this. I've messaged the buyer politely explaining that I see no problem when the sizes are accurate to the description. They've totally gone silent on me and I think they're expecting a full refund. If they've opened the item, I can't really reuse or resell it.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

@buy_n_easy   Sorry to say but your choices are to refund the buyer without a return OR you pay return shipping and then refund the buyer.

Under the ebay MBG the buyer just has to SAY that the item is not as described and you MUST accept the return and refund the buyer.

IF you do not do so willingly then eBay steps in and forces a refund. You do not get your sellers fees back, you get a DEFECT and the buyer may be allowed to keep the item.

If the buyer abuses the eBay MBG in some way then you can report them but it doesn't get your money back

The only slight protection a seller has is if they offer FREE RETURN shipping on their listings OR if they are a Top Rated seller and offer 30 days or greater returns.  The seller can then reduce the refund amount by up to 50% if the buyer sends a different item or somehow reduces the value of the item.

There is nothing you can do. Buyer can open "item not as described" case for any reason whatsoever an does not explain. They can say "item not as described: my son is a bad boy" or "item not as described: I don't like the color" or "item not as described: I don't want it anymore" and there is nothing you can do.

You can call ebay after 3 days and maybe get someone who speaks English to close the case but if they contact them first you get a serious "cases closed without seller resolution" defect.

Some customers are stupid. You just need to deal eat it.
