Hello, im new here. I sold an iphone recently. The buyer stated he wanted to return it because he found a better price. A few days later I get an email from ebay saying the item was returned and i need to issue a refund. But i never recieved the phone. I called my post office and they said the item was delivered to a different address (actually only a few blocks away from me.) I called ebay and they said they couldnt see where it was delivered, just that it was delivered in the same zip code as me, and as far as they're concerned i need to refund the buyer. Any ideas as to what i can do? Seems like ive been scammed...

If the PO would tell you the address and you went there, you may find it to be a convenience store, gas station etc. and that they don't recall it. If they did happen to find it, you might see that it was an envelope or some cheap trinket.
If you have enough information about the device, you could try locking it remotely.

The post office can tell you the ship from address, ship to address and where it was delivered. It has been said here that the PO giving out that information is illegal but....my post office gave me that info randomly when I was there to ship something and asked if a package I was expecting was delayed or out for delivery because the tracking said it was both delayed and out for delivery. The gentleman at the counter printed out a 2 page document showing all of the tracking scans and ship from/to info. If the PO won't give you that information, maybe ebay will issue a courtesy refund if you file a mail fraud report and an IC3 report. Good luck!

Did you provide a return label to the buyer? Or did he send on his own?

I agree with post #2. This is the oldest trick in the book.
