Buyer return

This is more of a comment than a question. I sold a small glass desk sculpture. Packed very good. The buyer said it was broken and they wanted a refund. I asked twice for pictures of the damage. No response.  Anyway, I approved the refund and sent them the return info through ebay on the 25th of Jan. They never sent the item back. Today was the 5th business day and I called Ebay and they told me to call back tomorrow to close the case because this was still the 5th day. After the call I got a message that I opened a case today. I called again and they told me the buyer has ANOTHER seven days to ship the item back. I think the rep. from the first call screwed up. I was on the phone with them for about 45 minutes between CS and then a supervisor. The supervisor finally said she would close the case as a courtesy to me because I must have clicked on something, which I didn't. Anyway I'm happy it was resolved.

Got another message from Ebay,   

They closed the case and issued the buyer a refund without any impact to me.

I am not required to reimburse the buyer or eBay, and this case will not be counted in my seller performance evaluation.

I’m glad it worked out for you!! Thanks for posting. I too have had eBay message me to say that they refunded me and the buyer a couple of times. It’s odd that eBay thought you had accidentally hit a button when it was them who opened the case. Lol

They did that because that first CSR made a mistake.  

If you had called tomorrow and closed the case because the buyer was non responsive, they wouldn't have done the refund to the buyer at their expense.  They would have just close the case in your favor.

But since it was Ebay's mistake, the did what they did, which was a very nice thing.
