Buyer requests return, admits in Return Request the item was working and then stopped working later

Hello,

I filed a Buyer Report for misusing the return process/policy after the buyer initiated a return for a $200 radar detector that in their own words in the eBay Return Request messages said, "The radar worked up until today. Worked with the hardwire as well. I was driving home today and it shut off as I was driving home."

I shared this with eBay in my Buyer Report, and requested they review the official Return Request message thread.

The item was perfectly operational and carefully packaged, insured, tracked, and delivered to the buyer.

Is there anything else I should do to protect and defend my transaction?

Thank you in advance for any guidance.

what I am saying is this could be a case of buyer's remorse disguised as "the product stopped working...there for NAD" just to force the return. I am open to all possibilities, but I can tell you a Valentine One radar detector doesn't conveniently stop working within 2 weeks of receipt after lasting for 5 years. I own two of these devices, and the main units are built with military grade materials and electronics.

My gut says buyer's remorse disguised as NAD.

Or it's simply buyer's remorse.

It's amazing how many eBay sellers rollover because the system is built in favor of buyers. That's some serious koolaid. You will be continually taken advantage of by both the buyers who intend to use loop holes, and eBay who constructs them or fails to close them.

As sellers we have 2 choices.

1) roll over. Accept return. Get item back. Refund. Get FVF returned. Report suspected abuse.

2) Refuse. Fight. Report/let eBay decide. .eBay refunds the buyer with our funds. No FVF returned. Seller defect for "unresolved by seller".

They admitted the item was working last month, and then today it stopped working. I reported them because they are claiming the item was sent to them not working.

So, you're telling me that I can buy an item from you, and then I can break the item, and then return it for a full refund? In what world does that make sense?

Yes they can and do;

Who is to say they broke it.

It could have defective electronics that worked a day or two and failed..

Old electronics do have a shelf life due to parts that have a high rate of fail due to time.

Your options are to return for refund, or no return and refund.

If you don't refund them and this is a case, eBay will refund them.

You can try and fight it: some win, most lose; if eBay refunds it will effect your seller metrics as well.

The choice is yours.

edited to add ; "and listed by a former eBay employee."

Hmm did not know this statement was allowed. It may cause you more problems that it helps. Just saying.
