The buyer paid for the item and then notified me to send their item to a different location. Why didn't they just change their address before? Any suggestions on what I could tell or ask the buyer to do without upsetting them? Newbie seller here
I have read around that this is bad as I would have "no Seller Protection through PayPal if the buyer opened an item not received case there".

You would be surprised how many buyers don't read the listing or the checkout screen which shows the shipping address. You are correct, if you don't ship the address on the payment you will not have PayPal seller protection. Some sellers will ship anywhere the buyer asks on a low value transaction but you aren't obligated to do that.

Don't do it. You are correct. There would be no seller protection.
Explain this to the buyer and offer to cancel the listing and relist so they can pay with the correct address. When you cancel use "problem with buyer's address" as the reason.
"I'm sorry but my seller agreement with eBay dictates that I can only send items to the address on the payment received. I will be happy to cancel the sale and relist the item so that you may edit your address when making the payment in checkout. Please let me know how you would like to proceed."
Either they will say okay or tell you to go ahead and send to the original address. If they refuse then just cancel it using the reason I stated above. Hopefully they will be cooperative.

Thank you! I just told them I would call ebay in the am. I let them know I would most likely need to refund them, relist, and they would need to repurchase with updated location. Hopefully, it doesn't rub them the wrong way.

Thank you! I did just that and hopefully it doesn't upset them!

Please don't waste CS time calling eBay. There is no reason to call them.
