Buyer opened return for damage case but hasn't opened the box

I have a buyer who is claiming and item is damaged but won't even ope the box.  They just want to send it back unopend.  They say "they can tell the items are damaged.  I have asked them to open and send photos, twice.  They say it would just be easier to return it without opening.

My point is, if it is damaged I don't want the items back.  I will send a full refund but they need to at least open the package and take photos.  They say that "the caretaker of the home where it was sent can tell the items are broken".  Then why not open it and take pictures?  They sent one photo but it was just of part of the shipping label.

I would just bite my tongue and accept the return and take the loss as a business expense, if you fight it, you are going to spend an immense amount of time that could be used in listing more items to sell. Otherwise the buyer may open the box and damage the item and then take the pictures that you are requesting.

Just accept the return then. The buyer can't be forced to send pictures.

remember you are a seller and have no rights, a buyer can do anything they want on eBay, we are all at the mercy of eBay and the buyers, sad reality, call and ask for help. Good Luck!

That's not necessarily true. Ebay has been getting better about not treating their sellers like **bleep**.

I would suggest accepting the return, then, after you receive it you can check for damage yourself. If it isn't damaged, call ebay and tell them the buyer abused the returns process, and they will either reverse the payment again back to you, or pay you out of their own pocket. I've had other buyers claim an item was damaged when it wasn't just so they could get a return, (I don't accept them otherwise) but when returned it was obvious nothing was wrong. After I called ebay and explained the situation they actually made it right.
