I recently sold an item to a buyer and upon receiving it she claimed it wasn’t functional and that she was unhappy with it. Without her even asking for a return I offered for her to submit a return and I’ll gladly accept it and I apologized for the inconvenience, though I was almost 99% sure the item she purchased was completely functional. A day after she filed the return, I figured everything was okay and I was simply waiting for the item to come back to me (in which I had asked the buyer to pay for shipping back). She had opened a case on me and within 5 minutes ebay resolved it in her favor and refunded her.... without me receiving my item back. I’m a new seller, and just need some advice. I tried to submit an appeal, but it doesn’t even show up as a case I can appeal.

When a buyer claims an item is defective, the seller pays return shipping if they want the item back.
If the buyer had Ebay step in, they can refund the buyer from your account and let them keep the item.
