Buyer in China could not buy item -- Shipping question

Had someone in China inquire about a lower shipping option for a book. I updated the options to include first-class international. Packaged weight would be just under 4 pounds.

Buyer tried to check out and got this message:

"We are sorry, but the item you selected may not be purchased due to seller shipping restrictions or due to country-specific import/export or other relevant restrictions."

Again, the item is a book and within the weight limit. Any thoughts?

China is a curious mix of a go-go-go economy in a country run by a bunch of Mao Tse-Tung wanna-be's.

Unless it's a copy of this Quotations_from_Chairman_Mao_Tse-Tung_bilingual, they probably have some sort of restriction on books in general as there is no way eBay could do the programming necessary to sort a list of books approved and banned by the Chinese government.

Could very well be the case, but I'm pretty sure I have sent books to China before. The item title does have "Christmas" in it, so maybe that's the offending term. Although as you said, how would there be a way to flag or allow individual titles?

Buyer has 3,700+ feedback, so he should know his country's restrictions. Here's the USPS mailing restrictions that might apply:

"Manuscripts, printed matter, photographic negatives, gramophone records, films, magnetic tapes, video tapes, etc., which could do political, economical, cultural, or moral harm to the People’s Republic of China."
