I have encountered something I've never encountered before and wanted to see if anybody knows how to go forward. I sold an item, printed off labels, packaged it, labeled and mailed it like I always do. According to the tracking the item went to where it was supposed to, in Illinois, but it said "Delivery Attempted" but I guess that means it was not delivered. There is then a DHL eCommerce Solutions tracking that says that for some reason it went from Illinois to Ottrot, Alsace, France? Meanwhile, the buyer DID receive a package, but it's no the package that I sent to him, it's a completely different package. Does anybody know what went on here? Is this something eBay can help me with or do I need to contackt DHL eCommerce Solutions instead?

Your buyer was in France and purchased the item using eBay International Shipping (eIS). With eIS, you ship to the hub in Glendale Heights, IL, then eBay takes over and inspects the package then ships it internationally to the buyer.
Since you have confirmation the eIS hub took possession, you are covered by seller protections @lehenderso94 . Your buyer should open a return request for receiving the wrong item and eBay will take over, providing a return shipping label so the buyer can send it back to the eIS hub. eBay will refund the buyer and you will keep the sale. You will also be protected from neg feedback.
