I just sold an item and buyer paid after a day. When they paid they requested I send it to a different address. It is in the same city, but different street. What is the policy? Do I contact seller and tell him he needs to change his address in e-bay before I send it?

You should notify your buyer according to eBay policy you must send to the address provided in the order. If the item must be shipped to a different address, you need to cancel the order (reason problem with address) and relist so the buyer can purchase again and provide the correct address.
If you do not do so, you will lose any case claiming item not received (even if it was delivered to the new address). You lose seller protections.
Only change the address at the buyers request if you are willing to refund the buyer without the return of the item (you are willing to risk being scammed).

Policy is that the seller only has protection when shipping to the address on the order. Cancel and relist for the buyer to re-purchase correctly. Good luck.

This happens from time to time. I always message the buyer that it cant be changed after the fact.
There was an Ebay update on allowing sellers to change the address in the field after invoice was paid but i am not sure it would be covered under sellers protection or not. This was a recent update from Ebay.
Either way i would not ship it to another address IMHO

That won't help. because it won't affect the address that was attached to the payment when the payment was made. If you ship to any address other than the one that was attached to the payment, you will lose your seller protection against a fake "Item not received" claim.
The only possible workaround that could save this transaction is IF the two addresses have the same ZIP Code. Then you could purchase the postage somewhere other than eBay (such as through PayPal), enter the tracking number in the transaction. Then if the buyer files a "not received" claim, you will be covered if the tracking shows delivery to that ZIP Code.

you need to cancel this as problem with address
a buyer cant change the address once it has been paid for
this is a very simple problem to deal with but its your buyers problem
