Hi everyone,
I sold an item - it was delivered on 3/17 - buyer filed a NAD on 3/17, and I approved return on 3/17.
It is now 3/26 - no return, no communication from buyer. In looking at the return process, the notes indicate "waiting on buyer to ship item" - and "We've asked the buyer to ship the item back by Mar 26." Also, " If the buyer doesn't send the item back by Mar 26 we may close this return." Today is March 26th.
Can I call Ebay to ask them to close this return? I understand it goes away after 30 days, but does this mean the buyer has 30 (!) days to return the item??? Does the pre-paid mailing label expire after some time?
I don't want to poke a bear, but I would either like my item back so I might relist and move on, or my funds released.
I appreciate your advice.

I wouldn't do anything.

I was afraid that would be the response (smile).
I haven't been a very active seller on Ebay for sometime and now I remember why....this sort of thing. Live and learn.

If the buyer hasn't returned the item by the date indicated by eBay definitely call them and close the claim in your favor. They might not do it today because they always give the buyer time. However, I would call first thing in the morning because they missed their deadline. Don't wait any longer. Also cancel the return shipping label and get your money back for that.

Just so you know I recently had exactly the same issue. My buyer was supposed to have returned my item by March 5th so on March 6th I called and had eBay close the claim in my favor to get the money released.

Thank you very much for your assistance!
I will call tomorrow and request this be closed.

You are welcome. But call first thing in the morning because the buyer won't be able to reopen the claim on eBay. However, they can reopen on Paypal but they would have to pay for return shipping. Again they would have to meet specific deadlines. If they do reopen on Paypal call them and let them know that the buyer had opened a NAD claim on Ebay but failed to meet their deadlines. I had that happen too but the buyer offered to close the claim with a partial refund discount which I declined. This buyer tried to say that the pants I shipped him were the wrong color which was a lie. I knew he was just fishing for a discount. He never returned the pants and it was closed again.

I agree with the others, call Ebay tomorrow. I had the same thing happen and they closed the return. In my situation the person was trying to get a discount and I said no, but they could return it. I think they were just after the discount. Once it is closed it can't be reopened.

" Also cancel the return shipping label and get your money back for that."
You can't cancel a return shipping label.
And there is no money to get back for it.

I would still contact eBay and see what you can do to get your shipping label money back

I would call them so that they could close ther return. i don't see why when someone don't want something that they would hold on to it. When i get something that i don't want, i email the seller the "same" day and send it back within the next 2 days. why keep it hostage for 30 or even 60 days, if you don't want it?

"I would still contact eBay and see what you can do to get your shipping label money back"
The seller never paid for the return shipping label, so there isn't any money to get back.

Seller is charged for the label only if the buyer gets it scanned for a return.

Thanks to all! I called Ebay today and the case has been closed.
I assumed they changed their mind about the return or were looking for a partial refund, etc. But I didn't want to be "on the hook" for 30 days while they decided if or not to return the item.
Again, many thanks!
