Hello everyone. I'm new to selling and the community discussions. The return policy is a bit confusing so I need some help. I auctioned a broken Acer Iconia Android tablet for like 12.80 + shipping. It was clearly listed as "for parts or not working" and I described it as so, even stating that it was dropped and will not turn on.
The buyer just messaged me and said they did not read the description and gave the tablet to someone and they claimed it is not working. I told the buyer that I clearly stated it was not working and thanked them for their business. What do I do if I get a refund request? This was a new listing and was automatically set to a 14-day return policy. Is this correct?
Thank you for your time and helping out a noob. I know it is not a lot of money but I am an unemployed single father with child support and living at home with my parents. Every dollar is a million.

If you get a return request, they'll have to return it. If they don't have it in the mail within five days, on day six you can call and have Ebay close the return in your favor. Be sure to save the messages that state they gave it away. They can't return it if they don't have it. If they open a not as described case, same thing applies. They must return it to get a refund.

If the buyer gave it away, it has been out of their possession and no longer qualifies for the MBG

Why worry about something that hasn't happened?

If you get a return request, you happily agree to refund ONCE YOU GET THE ITEM BACK. No return, no refund. And don't be so sure that it is toast. There are many places around now that can repair items or will give credit towards a new one.

Realize people have stopped reading. It's all about getting the item they want immediately. People look at the title and perhaps a photo or two, without details, then hit the buy button and once they receive exactly what they purchased it turns into a regret. This is our future....
You've gotten plenty of good advice here so all I can add is to be positive and not refund until you actually receive the item back. Don't cave in to threats should any come from the buyer but it doesn't seem to be going that way.
You did nothing wrong here.
Best of luck to you....

Only problem I see here is that NOT WORKING placed in the title may have helped weed out the non-readers.
In the future I expect that you will also avoid having a "14 day return" on a "for parts or not working" item.
