Have any sellers had this happen to them? Buyer received item. Buyer decides to open "not as described" return claim. No problem, I offer automatic returns for any reason. Buyer notifies me he is shipping item back for refund. I say fine, will refund you when I receive it. But at SAME TIME, buyer also files credit card Chargeback through Paypal and receives refund.... Item is returned to me, I get notice from ebay to "refund buyer within 9 days, or ebay will automatically refund buyer...? So buyer will be getting 2 refunds for same item? PayPal & ebay separate companies, one says it's the others responsibility to correct...(?)

Can you add notes to the case, or is it effectively 'closed' to a response?

I know it's not a great solution, but what I would do is let the second refund happen, then communicate with the credit card company showing that ebay refunded as well, and see if paypal will reverse it. Paypal will be able to see both refunds from your account, and should reimburse you.

Unless I'm mistaken, there would be no way for the buyer to get a second refund. The Paypal chargeback would be pulled from the original transaction, as would the Ebay case. If the case has already been refunded once by Paypal, there would be no way for a second refund from the same transaction to go through. (in theory, however this is Ebay, so...)

Opening a paypal case should have closed the eBay case. Email eBay or contact them via facebook/twitter to tell them what happened. Be prepared to give them the transaction number where the buyer was refunded.
