Buyer claims defect. Opens return. Closes return without returning item and still wants refund.

A seller bought a fleece jacket. Claims the zipper gets stuck. She opened a return. I got a message from eBay that the return was approved, that they have asked the buyer to send it back and will share the tracking info with me when she does ship. 

A few days later, after a couple messages back & forth, she said that she thought I could just issue a refund. I told her that I was waiting for the item to be returned so that I could then issue a refund through the eBay returns process. She closed the return and sent a message that since she closed it, I could now issue a refund - even though she still has not returned the item.

What do I do? Just let it go? Partial refund? Full refund? Demand item return?

Repeat that you will refund once you receive the item back.

She obviously wants a free jacket...

 

As @southern*sweet*tea said...

"No return, no refund. Period, the end."

 

Since she closed the case, she is no longer able to open another case through eBay.

 

I have a feeling that she may try to go through PayPal.  If she does, keep all of these corresponding emails and cases...take screenshots of them all.

 

If she does attempt to "PayPal" her way to a refund...just show them her behavior here...I hope that it would be enough for PayPal to refuse to "help" her get a free jacket.
