Buyer canceled for item on managed payments?

The buyer canceled the item when they purchased it, and it was his fault for buying the wrong item even though I clearly stated what it was.  Am I paid for the item and also paying out for the item when it is refunded? Because it looks like I may still get that payout, but I also had to pay the cost of the item.  Just confused about this all.  Don't see how this should fall on the seller when it was the fault of the buyer.

Buyer canceled for item on managed payments?

I had a similar thing happen, just in the past week... I made an offer, buyer accepted.

They immediately paid and messaged me saying to just send the shoes, and I could "keep" the doll (it was a fully clothed Monster High doll, just to clarify... 🙂

Then they said they didn't want it at all.

They filed a case, that money was on hold.  I was super confused, because to pay the money back, it will take the refund out a pending payout.....

But if  you don't have a pending payout, then it comes out of your bank account linked for your payouts.

I did the refund yesterday, and rest assured, everything evens out and you are not charged anything extra in the end.  It is just super confusing in the meantime....

Please accept my apology if I have not understood your post properly.

1: Buyer cancelled and order ,

Buyer can send you a cancel order request or a message to cancel.

Cancelling an order should never cause any seller any problem as buyer is merely exercising his right.

2: If  eBay messaged you that a cancellation is requested then you must respond to that request, accept it and click on Issue refund. You are done and eBay will take it from here.

3: If you receive a message from buyer asking you to cancel then you do that through buyers order and follow each step. In order to get your final value fees credited you must issue a refund in full.

Your comments  " Looks like I may still get that pay out, but I also had to pay the cost of the item".

I am not clear why you are stating this as you can not get a pay out as there is never a Pay out.

If order is cancelled and you have not sent the item then no payment.

If order is sent and tracking uploaded (Order is not cancelled) then you have been paid.

I am even more confused about you having to pay some one for cost of item.

Only thing that comes to mind is that you are drop shipping( You do not have possession of the item you are selling) and in that case you may wish to cancel your order with your seller.

Anything that falls on seller is part of selling on line and are due to distance selling rules and consumer protection laws (Seller is not a consumer) and these laws are made by governments and not eBay.

I know you think you've explained yourself but you really haven't. It sounds like your buyer purchased but shortly after canceled. meaning before you even shipped the item. So you see the payment as pending because it is so recent and are wondering how you pay them back since you theoretically haven't received the original payment yet. Have I gathered that correctly?

You would never be paying out twice. This is how online selling works when using a platform. If you haven't shipped the item you simply accept the cancelation which voids the pending payment in the system. You will not then receive the payment as it will in effect be returned to the buyer. Neither of you would be out except perhaps some non returnable fees.

As to your last statement, again that is how online selling works on this platform. Best of luck to you....

Buyer canceled for item on managed payments?

Not applicable

With managed payments the hold will be there until you process the refund and normally Ebay releases the hold the next day in my experience.  It may deduct from your account until the transaction is finalized.  I dont know why it just wont send the hold money when its for that product.  This drives me crazy when the item is canceled.

ebay will not returns the money because its short by 30 cents.the need to make sure they get that 30 cents

they went in my bank accout  for 30 cents when I had to cancel an order and refund

when you hit the refund button it will tell you in the dispute console when they go into your bank

Because of the way mp is set up I will not accept any cancellation even if it's 2 seconds after the buyer pays I would rather the person do a return.... It's definitely not the way I would prefer to handle things but because of how long it takes for payouts to actually hit your bank account I really don't feel like being out money for up to 4 days if it happens to be on the weekend because a buyer changed their mind

It's because instead of eBay taking the refund out of processing payment they take it directly out of your bank account and then continue to process the payments so you do get the money back you're just out whatever it is for 24 to 96 hours it's super inconvenient for us sellers to accept a cancellation

You also run the risk that it's a savvy buyer who knows that eBay will get them the refund when either:

A. The item doesn't arrive and they file INR case - and you get a ding for failure to ship.

or

B. The item arrives and they file a not as described case. And then you'll be out both the item and the money.
