Buyer Paid Calculated Shipping did not apply to my invoice

I sold an item and the buyer paid $9.09 for calculated shipping through USPS. I decided to ship FedEx because it was safer for the item and faster for the buyer. The estimated cost was $15.27. Instead of (15.27 - 9.09) showing up on my invoice the full $15.27 showed up. The buyer paid amount is essentially gone, what do I do to get my shipping credit back?

You don't.  And the bad news?  You may end up with poor feedback.

Buyers expect exactly what you put in the listing.  If you put USPS shipping and change it, you may find your buyer is unhappy with that decision.

And the extra fees to ship?  Do what you say and you won't have that problem.

The $9.09 went into your PayPal account as part of the buyer's payment.

As noted in the other post, it is inappropriate for a seller to change the shipping carrier (or to downgrade the service) without first checking with the buyer.  Many buyers have very strong opinions about which carrier to use.

When you ship via FedEx, eBay bills the FedEx fee to your seller's invoice.  It does not matter how much you charged your buyer.

Just curious, but did you really downgrade from USPS Priority Mail to FedEx Ground/Home  -- airmail vs. surface transport -- and agree to pay a higher cost?  Or did you select a FedEx air service?  Either way, bad idea since your customer expects delivery by USPS.

There is no shipping credit. The buyer pays you to ship therefore when the buyer pays, the entire payment (item price plus shipping charge) goes straight to your PayPal account. You already received the $9.09 when the buyer paid. The $15.27 on your invoice is the amount you owe eBay for the fedex label you charged to their account.
