Box dimensions not being saved accurately in listings

I have found recently that when I am shipping an order the box dimensions are sometimes coming up as 1 x 1 x 1.  I ALWAYS enter box dimensions correctly in my listings but for some reason they are not always being saved (perhaps when doing "sell similar"?).  This morning I went to ship a 3 pound package being sent Priority to California (I am on the east coast).  The box dimensions came up as 1 x 1 x 1.  The buyer paid $10.85 (which I guess would be the cubic rate for that size), but the actual cost with the correct box size is $17.26).  Has anyone else experienced this?  Is the problem that "sell similar" does not keep the correct box dimensions?  Thanks for any help.

Box dimensions not being saved accurately in listings

There seems to be a glitch that I have encountered with shipping.  When shipping multiple items to same buyer and I repackage and add new weight and box size and send invoice.  Buyer pays then when I go to purchase the label, the system picks a random box size that I have to correct then come out short on the shipping from what i have invoiced.  It is happening constantly.  My differences have been only $1 or $2 but it adds up.  Sorry for your problem, but Ebay has to address this issue.  We are probably not the only ones having a problem.  Good luck!

If you use "sell one like this" from another seller's listing it will pull in that seller's data and I've seen reports about certain info not saving properly when you adjust it. Is that what happened here @nantcha - did you start from another seller's listing?

Or are you using "sell similar" from your own listings? If from your own listings, sometimes data can get corrupted the longer you use "sell similar" so it's sometimes good to start fresh instead of copying what could be a years-old listing.

It's hard to diagnose specifically without more detail. For example, are you using web or app - if app, what version app, OS, and phone are you using? If on web, what version browser and OS are you using? Are you creating listings on web then finishing on the app?

No, I rarely sell similar from someone else's listing as I find often the category or the item specifics are totally incorrect.  I have done sell similar off my own listings - things that are over a year old I periodically do that.  However I must admit there are some items that might be 3 years old or older and I have done "sell similar" several times on those.  I have been going through all my listings (a tedious process).  Have done over 300 so far and not found a single one where the package dimensions have not been entered accurately.   I'm beginning to think it might be an eBay glitch.  I list from my computer using Chrome.  I never list using the phone app.  I have had quite a few instances where the dimensions come up as 1x1x1 when I go to print the shipping label.  Other times it has not mattered for small items or media mail.  This time I really got burned.  Thanks for your help.

Go to the listing in question and hit "sell similar" then scroll down to see if it shows package dimensions @nantcha . Make sure you delete the draft afterwards so you don't accidentally list it. But at least that will tell us if the listing had correct info or not.

You can sort your listings on the active listings page in seller hub by date created and check all your old listings first, if that helps.

Thanks for  the suggestion.  I did that and the dimension boxes were all blank.  I'm almost sure I never left them blank but I'll keep checking through all my active listings to make sure.  Thanks again, Nancy
