Blond Question about Priority Regional Rate boxes

ok for the shipping calculator (back when I started listing mom's stuff)

Regional A was 2lbs

Regional B was 4lbs

Cause you couldn't just plug in Reg A box or Reb B box

Does that still apply?

Reason I ask is cause while Auctiva gives me the OPTION of using Reg A or Reg B box... eBay won't take the listing that way.   So I gotta plug in a Priority and a weight and the box dimensions.

PS if the mods slide this over into some no mans land can some one @ me so I can find this again.

I hate photobucket right now... PS Answers given years ago may or may not be current now, please check with current posters to the boards to see if the information is still relevant.

Blond Question about Priority Regional Rate boxes

eBay staff have actually said outright that eBay doesn't want to be bothered doing the programming for it.

Check the USPS pricing tables. Probably if you enter a weight of 5 pounds (or 4 pounds 12 ounces) AND if your shipping calculator is set to charge retail prices, then your buyer will pay enough to cover Regional B postage.

@cynthealee2

eBay still won't let you set up calculated shipping for a Regional box, but alas the postage rates for the Regional boxes no longer conveniently match any weight-based rate.  You can compare them in the official USPS rates publication, Notice 123:

http://pe.usps.com/cpim/ftp/manuals/dmm300/notice123.pdf

IIRC, the rates are still less than the retail rates for 2 pounds or 5 pounds.

Blond Question about Priority Regional Rate boxes

Oh ugggggg....

Why let us PRINT the labels on eBay if they won't use it for shipping to start with!!!!

Soooooo

Next stupid question... so I just plug in the ACTUAL weight, and pray hard when/if it sells?

I got a 4lb 12 oz item that works so well in the reg B box...

Only reason I got and use the regional boxes was cause the shipping was easier to do.

Blond Question about Priority Regional Rate boxes

USPS site lists the following weight guidelines for regional boxes:

  • Regional Rate Box A has a 15-pound maximum for domestic shipping and a 10-pound maximum for international shipping.
  • Regional Rate Box B has a 20-pound maximum for both domestic and international shipping.

The information can be found at https://faq.usps.com/s/article/Regional-Rate-Boxes

You can pay for the postage on the USPS site, but I don't know of any way to pay for it via Ebay.  I wish Ebay would work it into their shipping calculator, because it is more economical to ship this way than via regular Priority.

Happy selling & shipping!

Blond Question about Priority Regional Rate boxes

You can purchase Regional-rate postage through eBay shipping, even though eBay has chosen not to make the Regional boxes an option when setting up calculated shipping in your listing.
