This heavy package up-charge caught me by surprise today! EXTRA $48 Shipping 2 speakers in separate 58 pound boxes, no way to break it down any further. And no viable way to ship both in a single box well over 100 pounds except a freight carrier. UPS and FedEx got together and both changed there heavy package up-charge from 70 to 50 pounds so no alternatives since USPS is more anyway? The reason they stated in the press is to try to cut down on combined shipping heavy boxes by vendors who could split up their shipment further. Guess everybody gets hammered even if they are already at the lowest possible weight, seems like there should be an exception for eBay single item sales. So adjust your shipping accordingly or get surprised! Or find a way to ship boxes like this for less. My 2 labels went from $35 each to $59 each, close to double of 2019!

Thanks for the warning about the additional "gotcha" ... those heavy packages might be better shipped using the small freight (LTL) network rather than the small package network.
Now at $24, FedEx's "Additional Handling Surcharge" for weight has nearly tripled in price in just 6 years (the surcharge is "only" $13 for packaging mistakes). I guess they are aggressively trying to get those heavier packages out of their small package networks as their systems are more and more automated.
