So, first, sorry if this has been posted already but for those who don't know, FedEx Economy are NOT insured even though eBay shows them as insured. They are only insured while they in FedEx hands and since they instantly hand them off to USPS, you have no insurance when its lots or damaged. Learning this the painful way.
Also, if you're not getting updates, add a 92 to the beginning of your FedEx tracking number and then you can accurately track it on USPS.

Yet you're relying on USPS for the final leg of the journey...your logic doesn't make sense.

Even more reason to use Ground Advantage in addition to the fact that FedEx uses contractors for their ground services.

If you are talking about switching to a 100% FedEx service, keep in mind that you will be unable to service your PO Box customers this way.

No, I'm stuck relying on USPS either way but at least when shipped through USPS I have insurance (mostly useless anyway)

No, I'll only use USPS or FedEX is its 100% FedEX

Was it going to a PO Box @banana*shoe*boutique ? I'm pretty sure Ground Economy is only transferred to USPS for PO Boxes and the rest FedEx handles through delivery.

No, it was going to a residence. All fedex ground economy have scans for both fedex and USPS. They’re always handled this way. At least they are in my city.

Also got burned by this, anyone have any luck in retrieving their packages from USPS? I feel like I'm just spinning my wheels trying to resolve this while they all point the finger at each other.

I as well, Shipped fedex they handed it off to USPS, not the carrier I or buyer chose, and it went into USPS land of the lost...called fedex to see about it, they wanted me to create an account,(now with how loose these companies are at being hacked, the less footprint the better) I told her I did not need an account to buy your label, she got huffy, took the tracking number and said USPS has it call them....I could see where this was headed....hot potato no one wants to be holding it...so called ebay...and let them figure it out...they could not and since neither fedex or USPS insurance claim was not going to work...ebay refunded the buyer from their account not mine. I told her never again with fedex....

What did your FedEx tracking show before they handed it off to USPS and what did it show after they handed it off?

The problem @wholysunshine happens when you drop your package off with the wrong carrier. You cannot hand FedEx packages to USPS. They will be confiscated and destroyed and you'll be left having to refund the buyer; there is no way to retrieve the package once USPS seizes it. You paid FedEx for the shipping service, not USPS, and the USPS tracking scan will usually indicate postage wasn't paid.
There's even a warning when you buy the label on eBay.

I ask the tracking question because, I too, think these packages are being dropped off at USPS in the first place with paid FedEx postage. If this is the case, you will never get your package back or be covered by insurance. You essentially gave it away. But we need to see FedEx acceptance, tracking, and hand off notices. If you have those, you are insured.
