Hello, long time buyer. First time poster. I recently purchased some Gucci sandals for my girlfriend from a seller with a decent rating.
Ive contacted the seller multiple times with no response, I purchased the item on Sep 11. It was marked as shipped by the 13 and a tracking number was provided. But the tracking number is invalid and way too long and the shipping details on eBay have never updated.
I realize that the item shipped with USPS ground and may take a while. But why provide a tracking number that doesn't even work or is phony? Can someone provide some answers to this.

Sometimes a seller will add a second, new tracking number. You won't be notified, but that new number will appear as a second entry on your eBay order Details page.
Or the seller is entrapping you to eventually open an item not received refund request after the last estimated delivery date, whereupon the seller will upload a heretofore unseen tracking number showing delivered and have the case closed against you.

How can I protect myself against the second option? This was a expensive transaction. The item actually shipped on the 12th and it's a week later with no update and no response from the seller.
I have no problem waiting but this is becoming a bit of a funny situation and I just want my money back all things aside if he doesn't send the item.

Did you actually try to pop it into the USPS site? Sometimes the numbers don't show up there as just a glitch. You have until whatever date ebay gives you. Allow them to show up, or wait until that date. Stop sending your seller so many messages too.

I did, like I said I'm a long time buyer. But something just strikes me as strange. I tried the number and it is obviously way too many characters for USPS. And I believe I have the right to question a seller when I already paid for a product and would only like a response. I've sent him 3 messages in the span of a week. I think he would have the decency to answer one.
