Awaiting delivery scan

Good morning!

As of today, Dec, 4th, the package is still awaiting delivery scan.

Is there anything I should be doing at this point?

Thank you!

Re: Awaiting delivery scan

You can call the USPS in the zip code of your buyer.  They can check if it was delivered but not scanned or it if still awaits delivery.

Re: Awaiting delivery scan

Don't contact the buyer and give them any ideas.  It may have been delivered and was never scanned. That happens a lot these days.

Re: Awaiting delivery scan

When I see the "Awaiting delivery scan" I usually go ahead and start a Missing Mail search on USPS website.

Sometimes it will result in the USPS marking it as delivered if the carrier remembers delivering it.

Re: Awaiting delivery scan

Thanks, guys, for your ideas. Was about to call the destination post office, but the package status was switched to delivered (odd, but "delivered Sunday"). Maybe a system glitch, or something else. I am off the hook for now, unless buyer files anything for a 2-day late delivery.

Re: Awaiting delivery scan

They can't file for late delivery. If they give bad feedback for it, you can contact eBay and they will remove it. As buyers are not to rate the shipping service.  Now if a seller ships it late, that's another matter.

It isn't odd.  I can see my mail carrier pick up my packages in the mailbox and he scans them right there.  I don't see the scan until later, although the earlier time is what is recorded.  I talked to him (he is my neighbor) and he says he has to send the report from his scanner.  Sometimes he does it during his route, sometimes he does it later.  I have had a few scans show up the next day, but were picked up and dated the previous day.  Glad all is well!

Re: Awaiting delivery scan

"Awaiting delivery scan" means sloppy carrier who shouldn't be trusted with U.S. mail.

I file lost package/insurance claims on them every single time, even if I know it was delivered.

Re: Awaiting delivery scan

If you're the seller it means you're about to get screwed. They will always rule in the buyer's favor even when the item is "lost." I just went through it. Item was out for delivery in the USPS truck on a saturday. Then sunday morning at 2am was marked as "awaiting delivery scan." Item was never marked as delivered and sure enough the buyer filed a dispute. Was ruled in their favor. I appealed it bc its clear the item was "lost", stolen, or actually delivered and lost the appeal. Sellers have ZERO protection other than insuring every item you sell.

Re: Awaiting delivery scan

sometimes the tracking is not scanned until final destination - lazy post office behavior
