I sold a walkman, i did some testing before i sold it and it seemed to work fine. Buyer got it and said it had some issues within a return request. I sent a message to the buyer dont return the item i will issue a refund and you can keep the item. I never heard back from the buyer. Today i see ebay has charged me a return shipping fee for the item.
I think the problem is the return is auto approved it gave me no option to just refund him before it was approved.
How do i turn off auto approval of these returns so i dont have to pay return shipping for broken items?

Only Buyers Remorse returns get automatically approved. It shouldn't happen with a SNAD return.
Did you actually refund the buyer when you said you would? Did you resolve the return request within 3 business days?

With the new return process that eBay introduced in July, eBay removed the ability on a case-by-case basis to "refund and let the buyer keep the item".
In the new returns environment, you need to set up return automation rules BEFORE a return is started. So, you can set up a "Send a Refund Automatically" rule that would refund and let the buyer keep the item ... as part of the set-up of the rule, you would define the circumstances under which such a rule is applied (e.g., price of item, specific listings, categories of items, return reason).
I know ... it is a big, big hassle for small sellers, but is can be a good approach if you are a medium to high volume seller.

Hi lint
Not anymore Snad is also , that's why I set up to require RMA
I want to be able to refund if I want or send my own label if it is a breakable so I can insure my return.
There are alot of reasons I want control over my own returns

pffft...
I thought Not As Described was included along with the Missing Parts & Damaged in Shipping.
I set up RMAs awhile ago and haven't had a return in a long time. Last one was a [false] SNAD but it was before automation.
