Are Packages sold and shipping through USPS and EBay automatically insured?

Do Packages sold and shipped through EBay and USPS have any automatic insurance on them?  I shipped a package the other day and it was severly damaged in route. I had Breakable and Fragile wrote on it, but apparently did no good. The buyer doesn't want to return it, but she does want the machine I sold her fixed.

If it was shipped by Priority Mail, it comes with $50 worth of insurance.

Have a great day.

If you shipped via USPS Priority Mail then the package  was insured up to $50.00 for loss or damage.  Coverage above $50.00 needs to be purchased by the seller at an added cost.

Only if you shipped with Priority. When purchased through ebay its up to $100 dollars. It's only $50 when you buy it over the counter. If you shipped it first class then no.

@parkersparrow

USPS Priority Mail automatically covers packages that are damaged or lost up to a value of $50 for all eBay sellers.

Top Rated sellers, as well as sellers with at least 300 transactions during the previous month, will receive $100 of insurance coverage with each USPS Priority Mail purchased using eBay labels.

Additionally, UPS and FedEx automatically cover packages that are damaged or lost up to a value of $100. If your item has a higher value than that, you should consider purchasing additional coverage.

@johnrj1226 I was just trying to keep it simple.  To let op know if he bought priority through ebay he could have up to $100 in insurance.

A quick peek at the OP's feedback profile shows that he is not a Top Rated Seller. He doesn't have any DSRs showing, so surely he didn't have 300 transactions last month.  Hence, there is no need to tantalize or confuse him with details about how to get $100 of insurance coverage through eBay.

A lot of package handling is done by automated package sorters ... they don't read anything other than the shipping label.   Such writing is pointless anymore.

Watch the first 30 seconds of this video, and you'll see what sort of dropping and crashing your package might encounter:

Even with insurance it can be denied if the item was packed poorly.  Writing Fragile does not do anything.  Watch a couple videos on package sorting.
