Appeal return?

Hi, I appreciate any advice you can give on this case:

The buyer bought a suit from me. I shipped it and the buyer left positive feedback upon receipt.

About a week later, the buyer opened a return request. I sent the buyer a message asking if he opened the request in error because he left me positive feedback. No response. I called eBay to discuss. The representative thought it was strange too and advised me to contact the buyer again, which I did. Radio silence.

Ebay sent me an automated message reminding me of the deadline to accept the return. I replied with a message that I do not accept the return because I wasn't sure if the buyer meant to file for a return. eBay closed the case, ruled in favor of the buyer and deducted the suit price plus return shipping from my PayPal account.

I called ebay immediately to explain what happened again and was advised to file an appeal when the suit is returned. I received the suit yesterday, wrinkled and rolled up in a ball - the buyer couldn't even be bothered to fold it neatly - but otherwise intact with no damage or odors.

Is it worth filing an appeal at this point? Has anyone had a similar experience and/or filed an appeal successfully?

Which is true enough, but they lie to all eBay members not just sellers.  Usually, just to get you off the phone.   Hopefully, you will not have another issue again. If you do, and need advice, come to these boards. Most of us know ebay policy and how the systems work better than eBay's reps.

People can leave positive feedback and then turn around and open a return request. It's never a good idea for a seller to delay responding to a return request. You shot yourself in the foot with this one. There is nothing to appeal, as far as eBay is concerned, the case is closed without seller resolution. Next time, just continue with the return request. There's no need to make additional contact with the buyer.

You  must always accept a return for a SNAD item (which I assume this is) and even for normal return if you take returns. You also must follow the dead lines eBay gives you. There is no appealing with eBay, your just wasting you time if you try. Move on and use this as a learning experience. BTW, calling eBay was your 1st mistake, it's common for them to lie to sellers. That's why you have to call them and they don't put things in writing.

Don't forget to BLOCK the buyer

I did not realize that people could leave positive feedback and then file a return. It doesn't make sense.

People are people, they don't make sense, it's called buyers remorse, happens everyday. Don't offer returns if you don't want them, and 9 times out of 10, your buyers won't try it for buyers remorse.

Not true as far as not accepting returns. We do not take returns and its clearly stated. We sold a blacklistecd cell phone in the as-is for parts catagory. Stated it as blacklisted, posted actual pics of it with all its serial numbers and imei visable. A cell phone hacker company bought it perhaps hoping to unlock it. When they couldn't they filed for a return. We refused. They claimed the universal catch-all "not as described" claiming the display was bad. When we pointed out the pictures were of the display turned on they claimed the digitzer didn't work so it was unresponsive. When we pointed out the pics were of different screens requiring tap & swipe to work they clammed up. No further communication. We filed a dispute, but ebay sided with the buyer despite all our proof that they were full of s*it and lying.

So im holding the phone which works perfectly (except not being able to be activated) and I've been charged back plus charged for the buyers shipping fees! I am furious and want to file the appeal anyway. If ebay insists on wasting my time I'm **bleep** sure going to waste theirs. Problem is like all seller help it seems to be buried somewhere I cant find. Can someone shoot me a step by step?

Don't waste another second talking to ebay...they NEVER SIDE with seller no matter how much proof you have showing you are in the right..it is a LOST CAUSE..you will just need to move on. But I understand your **bleep** and how unfair it all is. Go have yourself a cocktail instead!
