When I first started using USPS Ground advantage a little about two months ago, packages were arriving a day or two later than the typical Priority mail. Great! NOW it seems that most every package I have sent via Ground Advantage has poor tracking status updates (sometimes not updated until package is actually delivered) or eventually has the notation "arriving late"!
It seems these Ground Advantage packages are sorted through more USPS facilities which is concerning as they seem like they would be more susceptible to loss or damage .
I had hoped this service would save my customers on shipping but now not sure it is worth it seeing as how every package is being delivered up to 5 days later than expected.
My geographical area might not be a "fast track" area for this service but I rarely had a problem if I use priority.
I foresee a lot of unhappy customers that did not have their expectations met.

Ground Advantage it really terrible to Guam. Mailed two packages from Henderson, NV on same day. Both were showing delivery date of 2/24 and one actually arrived on 2/24, but now being told other one is expected to be 4/5 (maybe). Seems the one package went by air, and other is going by slow boat. Both packages about same weight, but the bigger one went by air? Seems in 48 continental states it is only suppose to be a few days different, but for Guam it goes by boat that adds 6 to 12 weeks. Seems it is a poor design. Would have been more than happy to pay a little more to not have the 6 to 12 week penalty, and it seems random. Many come by air, so not sure how it is determined. Flat rate boxes come by air, and would generally be just a little more.

USPS ship's by air to Guam . I haven't heard of USPS ship by boat in years. Guam currently Priority mail is the best way. I have had to many issues with Ground Advantage that I ask ahead from the sellers I buy from if they can ship Priority mail , FedEx and UPS .

USPS is terribly managed. my ground advantaged was shipped on the 19th from 91706 (L.A.) to 98108 (Seattle). it sat in the LA area for day. now tracking says my package is in 11714 (N.Y.) and is on it's way. **bleep**? it suppose to go north 1500 miles. but instead, it went to east coast for 3500 miles!? there are some people who are just high or incompetent in the USPS. Ground advantage is an excuse for incompetent people doing terrible job and get away with it. no wonder they are losing money.
this is not the first time this happens.

Every time I use ground advantage for eBay it takes longer than the estimated arrival time. One package I mailed from NH to New Orleans took almost 10 days and the double boxed bubble wrapped item with lots of styrofoam peanuts was smashed!!!
