Am I being Scammed?

Hi everyone, the back story is actually quite long so thank you for taking the time to read this.

On 9/14/19 I bought an item(Nintendo switch game) listed as "Brand-New" from a seller with 95% rating. The seller is registered 2017 from Vietnam, but his/her reviews have been all good the past month so I took a gamble.  The item's shipping location according to the listing is San Clemente CA. Estimated delivery date is 10/4/19 to my place in Covina, CA, some 60 miles north of the item's supposed location.

All is normal, until last night 9/18/19 I received a package delivery notification from FedEx, saying there's a package on the way to me, delivery estimated on 9/19/19. I have notifications on from my FedEx Delivery Manager Service. I haven't received notification from ebay nor the seller about my package being shipped, much less delivered. So I was very curious.

I used the provided tracking number to look up more info. The package sender is a Walmart from El Centro, CA. Warning bells immediately went off because I NEVER have ordered from Walmart this past year. Yet this package is being delivered to MY ADDRESS and under MY NAME, but the phone number is different. Furthermore, the package was picked up in Yuma, AZ even though the Walmart that the order originated from is in CA. But that may just be a warehouse shipping issue.

So I decided to first contact FedEx about this mysterious package. But to my surprise, they told me that the sender, Walmart, requested a stop delivery earlier this evening and so the package will be returned back to Walmart. The delivery status was changed to "Pending" on the FedEx tracker.

So I called Walmart's customer service, they confirmed that the package's original destination is indeed my address. But they have not received any orders to cancel the item, nor have they contacted FedEx to stop shipment.

What is more interesting is that, the name of person who ordered the item from Walmart is different from the name of my seller. And the price that was paid to Walmart(from the mysterious 3rd party) is higher than what I paid the ebay seller. (I paid ~$43 on ebay, but Walmart said they received ~$54). So I'm so confused as to what happened there. Even if they were doing a drop-ship, the seller would still be losing money. Unless they are planning to do a bait-and-switch, but I bought it labeled as "Brand-New" so I can still dispute with ebay.

I've emailed the ebay seller, but I have yet to receive a response, will wait a few more days.

Has anything similar happened to anyone? Am I being swindled here?

Feet up and watch the show? Err... not exactly. I’m probably gonna go Action Jackson all over the seller and why the package is being sent back.

But I’ll definitely have to think over what I will say and how I will word it in the email to the seller so I won’t jeopardize myself should I decide to evoke ebay’s MBG

Update 2:

So I called Walmart about a half hour ago and the customer representative, Alex said that they were the ones' who issued the package return. Because apparently my package was damaged during the FedEx transit.

Hmmm so should I notify my seller that Walmart told me that FedEx apparently ran over my package with their trucks?

You just can't stay out of it can you?   LOL! Smiley LOL

IF you give any instructions to Walmart you are interfering with the seller's commerce and I can imagine that won't go well for you.

Best course of action is inaction!

But now I predict you are going to get in the middle to "solve" this, end up messing things up and paying $41 of tuition.  Why are you "helping" this seller if you think they are a scammer?  After all you already "helped" with the tracking number.

I think I'm going to take my own advice, sit back and watch "the show" and the predictable out come.

Good luck!

@remispe_54 Its still on its way being shipped back to the Walmart return warehouse. Being delivered next Thurs (back to Walmart not me)

Well, I used to also sell on eBay so I kind of have the mentality of needing everything go according to plan.  I guess you can call me a control freak.  It also kind of runs in the family now that I think about it.

No I won't be giving Walmart instructions, just asked them for some background info. I'll reach out to the seller and let him decide the course of action. Plus Walmart told me that FedEx damaged my package and that's why FedEx "voluntarily" sent back the package on request of Walmart, I don't think the seller is yet aware of the situation.

I'll still give the seller benefit of the doubt for now, I mean his positive reviews are racking up these past day as more of the people are receiving their orders. (Could those be rigged? maybe)

Note the 3rd delivery line. I bought the item from and ebay seller, but he chose to drop ship via Walmart. So the shipper is Walmart. I was told by the Walmart representative that Walmart requested the package returned. The ebay seller does not appear to have contacted Walmart.

Any update @justing123456, does the tracking on your Order Details page say Delivered to your city/zip, but it was actually delivered to a second Walmart hundreds of miles from you?

Yeah, apparently FedEx "damaged" both of my deliveries, so Walmart had to take both back. I called Walmart and that's what they told me. The seller had to ship a third. It finally arrived(10/4).

I'm trying to purchase a pick-up truck through eBay, is there a phone number I can call to confirm actuality of the vehicle?
