Adding packages to a package pickup?

I do several package pickups through the USPS every week, and if I have an extra order or two come through the day of, I set it beside my scheduled pile. I sell things mostly under a lb, so I thought this would be saving the postal carrier another trip for one item or so the next day when I don’t have a pickup.

Lately, though, my carrier is picking things up but then marking the pickup as an attempt made where the total scheduled did not match the total picked up. I’m wondering if that’s normal? I’m definitely going to stop doing this, as I’m a bit scared of them putting strikes against my address and refusing to pickup. (Can that happen?)

Side note that one of my carriers is a bit of a terror in my neighborhood and highly vindictive to people they don’t like—I’m wondering if this an across the board policy or just my carrier, too. Either way, would love outside perspective, thanks!

Must you order pickups? My regular carrier knows where my outgoing is and picks it up daily (even scans on pickup)... accomplished through a quick conversation one day a long time ago. Of course, my guy is the best.

Maybe your carrier doesn't like the 'HALL PASS' he/she has to pick up every morning. I'm just sayin...

There is nothing more important, in my world, then actual communication with the person that I am asking something of. Just communication in general is important.  Not a note, phone call, or text.  I agree with mtgraves7984, maybe a good old fashion conversation with your carrier may change things around.

Mail carriers work very hard and get very little  kudos for their jobs.  They are there for us all during all kinds of weather, not to mention the pandemic, and if you think what you hear her is interesting, maybe you should hang out at a post office for a bit.  They deserve hazard pay!!

I always see a great big smile from mine.  I never forget to thank them for their working during all this upheaval.  A thankless job, for the most part.  Give it a try.  Maybe show that you appreciate that they take your boxes so that you don't have to go in.  They risk close contact with their workers so that we have a mail system. So you have a business.  They too are front line workers.  Yep, my people.

I bring disposable masks weekly to my local post office.  Once a week, I do a survey on line and give thanks to one of the clerks that was particularly kind. Maybe think about a nice handwritten thank you note on the next pick up to open up some dialog.

I am always go on about them because I believe that they are the most underrated front line workers.

Here is for all of you!!!!!

THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.

STAY SAFE AND BE WELL....YOU ARE APPRECIATED BY MANY.

Adding packages to a package pickup?

Thanks! I have two carriers in my area who alternate, and one is just fantastic, and the other has a stack of complaints against her from her conduct with the whole community for years, unfortunately, long before COVID. That's the one I think I'm dealing with--I tried to talk to her one day about an extra package that needed to go out and she was rude enough that I haven't tried again, quoting rules that I verified with the main post office didn't exist. Possibly a handwritten note might help, but I'm not sure if it wouldn't make her more angry that there's something else with the packages.

I really want to love my postal people! My other carrier is just so nice, and the people at the local office are great. It's just this one carrier that seems to have issues--and that might just be my issue here. I live in an area where my mailbox is community-shared and down the road from my house, so unfortunately a scheduled pickup is necessary!
