10 days or more handling time

Some of my recent purchases, the seller had put down 10 days handling time.  I've been selling on and off eBay for 18 years.  I usually just do three days handling time to give me a buffer for weekends and time to get to the shipping place.

Why would someone intentionally wait 10 days before shipping a customer's item?  First one, shipped after I sent them a message after waiting five days.  Second one told me to wait.  I feel five days or less is not unreasonable or impatient.

Sometimes they are very busy and work long hours. Sometimes, they are drop shipping and need for the item to get to them so that they can re-box and re-ship. Or sometimes, they are drop shipping and need that time to buy and wait for the other company to send the item to the buyer.   Don't buy from them if you can't wait that long.  If you suspect that they are dropping shipping, go to google, find the item and buy it from whoever is selling it the cheapest.

I believe this is the way some sellers "compensate" the difference of paypal payments ( former where the money was directly into your account )  verses eBay's managed payments where it takes different times to get the money deposited into the sellers bank.  ( especially for new sellers - they have to wait a longer time to get their money )

It's not right, but I understand that.

I would just pass on that seller and buy from another seller.

It is, if the seller has clearly stated a 10-day handling time in the listing.

As noted in the other posts, there are many possible reasons for a seller to set up an extended handling time, which they don't have to share with you: Inventory management, payment processing, stormy weather, ill or on vacation etc.

If I am waiting for an item I put longer handling time. I always ship item within 1 business day though if I have it in stock.
