New shipping labels page

I really wish ebay would stop rolling out updates to pages that don't need it and get around to fixing the stuff that is broken around here.

Re: New shipping labels page

Agree - my local post office is only open until 1pm - so I need to be able to change the shipping location zip code to reflect the other post office I need to drive to to ship the package that day as required by the lovely rules...TOO MANY UNNECESSARY CHANGES!

I would prefer using the little time I have to prepare more new listings instead of changing old listings to accommodate changes, like the free returns, etc.

There are no new rules, lovely or otherwise, that require same-day shipping.

Re: New shipping labels page

I would like to add to your statement. I was using the new label system and happen to notice a couple of bad differences.

#1 The is a price cost difference in the padded flat rate mailers of .20 cent high from the old label system. I know this because I switched back and did a second label with the older shipping form and it was .20 cheaper.

#2 On the new shipping label form they have cut the amount of Insurnace that is automatically

given by the post office at No Additional Cost.. to 50.00, with the old label system you get 100.00

included.

WHAT IS GOING ON WITH YOU EBAY?? Now they are trying to force us to use their Shipcover insurance system. which is more expensive.

I am start to feel like Cattle into the slaughter house.

Those  differences would be due to not getting the Commercial Plus rate for Priority Mail, which Top Rated Sellers should get on all of their Priority Mail labels (regardless of whether the listing was rated TR-Plus).

If the new shipping label form is indeed not giving the Commercial Plus rates to TRS, then that's the worst innovation ever!

I believe they are referring the USPS rule that says they can deny your package if the ship from zip does not match the zip of the actual PO you are standing in. I've had a clerk occasionally mention it, because the USPS system is so antiquated that the office that scans your package does not get credit for it - the office whose zip you've listed does.

I've also never had a clerk refuse to take a package, but if I brought packages every day with the wrong ship from zip, they might start refusing. I live in a screwy area where there is a post office 2 miles from my house, but the one that my actual address goes through is 20 miles away.

I'm still using the classis version, but if the problems with the new interface aren't fixed, that's going to be a big problem for me, both the zip issue and the ability to block the printing of the postage amount.

There is no new rule that requires the "Shipping from" Zip code to be accurate. The shipping from ZIP Code ust match if the sender is using Parcel Select.  Otherwise, the shipping from ZIP Code matters only if the postage cost would be different. Here's the relevant section from the DMM:

4.6.3 Deposit of Mail

Mailers must deposit or enter mailpieces with metered or PC Postage indicia according to the following conditions.

  1. Mailers may deposit Priority Mail Express, Flat Rate Priority Mail, Priority Mail weighing one pound or less, single-piece price First-Class Mail, First-Class Package Service — Retail, single-piece price Media Mail, and single-piece price Library Mail items with a metered or PC Postage indicia at any postal facility, preferably within the area of the customer‘s local Post Office. Mailers may also deposit zone-priced Priority Mail pieces at any postal facility, provided the postage affixed to each mailpiece is calculated to include the amount due as specified in 4.3.1, taking into account the weight, shape, and the zone from the ZIP Code of the office where the mailpiece is deposited to the ZIP Code of the destination address.

https://pe.usps.com/text/dmm300/604.htm#ep1080496

Postal Zones are determined by the first 3 digits of the ZIP Code, so the zoned postage cost will be the same for any two locations that have the same first 3 digits.

Re: New shipping labels page

I agree with you.    I do not care for the new label shipping page either.  I keep hitting the return to the old style, but how long will they let me do this...you are not the first person to be dissatisfied with this page either.  eBay has a link for letting them know how you like the new set up, but seriously do they even care....a lot of sellers do not like the new label shipping page.  Go back to the original, it was very easy to use..

Re: New shipping labels page

It's completely useless, it takes twice as long to print a label, the page layout is **bleep**. Why not leave stuff alone that works. It's bloody awful.

Plus, it is overcharging Top Rated Sellers for Priority Mail shipping labels.

A few TRS posters have pointed out that they are being charged the regular online rate (Commercial Base) rather than the Commercial Plus rate which TRS should be paying for all of their Priority Mail labels.

Re: New shipping labels page

I noticed that there is a newer discussion here: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Shipping-Returns/Difference-in-shipping-cost-between-new-and-old-label...

I was looking at a post by a member that included images comparing the classic label printing to the newer interface.  If you ship anything Priority Mail, you should take a look.  And then switch back to the classic version (at least until they work out the 'bugs').
