Wherever you keep your inventory written down. This is NOT an eBay function-this is accounting and that's your job

947 Listings and you don't keep an inventory?

The same place you put your YEAR BEGINNING inventory.

Hi @adoptababyfromhaiti ,
That part of your eBay sales accounting is your responsibility to keep track of. eBay has NO process in place where you would enter the amount you paid for your inventory, they are blind to that. If you do not have good records from last year on what you purchased then you will need to correct that for this year.

Thank you. I have the information from last year so I know it’s available. I just can’t remember how I accessed it. I’m just looking for my active listings as in 12/31/21.

EBAY does not keep track of your inventory. You have to create spreadsheet for all your items (assign inventory# for every item, description of item, cost of goods, date item sold). Total of all your items is "beginning inventory amount" and then you subtract "cost of items you sold last year" and that is ending inventory amount.
There is a lot of bookkeeping involved. What I do is include inventory# in the listing and at the end of the month I print all invoices of items sold (for my records). Take those invoices and subtract "cost of items sold" from your inventory list.

Ebay can give you the total of your asking prices of your items, and that figure may be what you found last year. But that is not your inventory figure for your taxes. That number you need is what you paid for your inventory, not your sale price, and ebay has no idea.

@adoptababyfromhaiti Unfortunately, eBay does not keep historical data on what was listed during specific time periods. What they DO offer is reports for what actually sold. Below is a link to Reports, you can set date ranges for the time periods you want ... but again, its just a sold record with fees, paid shipping, refunds, etc.

Hopefully you will be able to figure out where you kept your inventory purchase history for 2021. You will get many suggestions on how to keep track of your inventory for the future. A lot depends on how you purchase it.
I acquire lots from auction houses. Each "lot" will cost "X" but may be comprised of 30 to 60 individual listings once I break down the lots. I keep a spreadsheet on the lot cost then enter each item when it sells ( I add a NOTE on each listing that references the specific lot it is from). I know when a lot becomes profitable and when all items in that lot sell I know the total profit made compared to cost. If a lot hits profit but still has remaining individual items for sale I estimate the value for those remaining items for inventory purposes.
