wrong tracking #

on 8-21-04 I sold a book Auction # 276595534961.  The auction ended at 12:30 am.  The seller paid immediately.  I got a message from Ebay saying that the item had been shipped with a tracking #,  I thought that was just a mistake because the post office is not even open at that time.  The next day Ebay sent me the funds.  I shipped the item today 8-23-04.  I was not able to add a tracking #.  I finally sent a message to the buyer saying that the item was shipped with the tracking #.  It sounds to me that this A1 intelligence is of the chart.

     Well as far as I can remember this is a new one and presents some interesting issues. If you could not enter a tracking number this could present some problems. Was there a number already there or was the field simply locked?

There has to be some details you are leaving out.  Ebay does NOT create shipping labels on their own.

A curiosity question.  Why do you have auctions end in the middle of the night?  Doesn't that limit the buyers you might get?
