so I have listings set up with correct shipping weights, measurements and shipping services and the buyer gets charged the correct amount but for some reason known only to ebay, they decided that it would be a really great idea to set media mail as the default setting if you just print the shipping out without looking at every one some will come out media mail.

You are not allowed to even set a listing up with media mail in my categories.

I really wish that ebay would fix that.

also while on a shipping rant, I have been unable to bulk print 4x6 labels correctly for months, I always have to go back and reprint them one at a time

What kind of issues are you having with bulk labels? They're working fine for me. If you provide more details we can probably help you troubleshoot.

As for the MM default, sometimes you'll see the shipping method default when the listing is set up for First Class, but the buyer purchases multiples and exceeds the weight limit for FC. The system will default to another method, typically Priority Mail flat rate envelope or Media Mail (cheapest options) so it's up to the seller to make sure they're buying a label for the right (valid) service.

Because SOMETHING has to be the default. If they defaulted to First Class Mail then you would ask ":Why does First Class Mail have to be the default". ETC ETC ETC

On every listing you need to ALWAYS choose the shipping service you want. Once the item ends you cannot change it. Not sure what your problem is but for now on moving forward ALWAYS choose the one you want before hitting submit.

I did have the listing set up to go priority mail, buyer bought one, I do not understand why it defaults to media mail, and btw you can switch the shipping service after the item sells, done it many times.

still do not understand why I have to go back through and recheck shipping info when it is correct in the listing

the ebay discussion forums used to ba a place to get valuable information, somewhere along the way they have became totally worthless

@bashort No you cant. You can only change the weight and the dimensions, not the type of service.
