I have Defect rate of 1 in 59 transactions. Iknow 1 is maybe not too bad, but it bothers me to see it on my stats. when will it go away?

You need to keep an eye on your seller dashboard. 1 in 59 might not sounds so bad but it is basically on the fense of putting you below standard which I think is 2%. Defects stay on your account and roll off after one year.
You will need to make sure you resolve all requests moving forward to avoid going below standard which will increase your fees by 4% more on FVF's. It might also put restrictions and perhaps suspensions on your ability to sell in eBay.

In many cases it seems it is better to quit selling on eBay once you become "Below Standard" rated due to defects. You have to look at the economics of it for your situation and make a decision.
If you have not crossed the "Below Standard" threshold yet and like selling on eBay then, as other posters say, you need to follow the rules assiduously and watch your defect rate.

wow this sounds really extreme! I am above standard actually. I think 4 defect transactions will get me to Below standard. Which I am not planning to do , of course. I am an excellent seller. I was just asking when will that 1 will away. jeez!
thanks for the warning anyway.
Yes I agree. It is very strict, and this has helped to remove sellers who have not been able to perform to these standards and unfortunately some very good sellers got removed.
Just do not let the requests go unresolved and you will be fine. Sometimes you did nothing wrong and you just have to take the lose and resolve the request and move on.
It really is just part of doing business, and it happens a B&M locations as well. Not every transaction is going to result in profit.

The user agreement clearly sets out the defect performance standard. It also states that,”We will evaluate your performance every month”. So under these definite terms, any defect will drop off from consideration in one year or 3 months if you have 400 or more transactions in 90 days.

One defect is not as close to the fence as you suggest. An above standard seller would not go below standard unless their defect rate was higher than 2% AND if they had more than 4 defects.
