Many bidders that lose to a last second bid experience frustration.

eBay auctions are not like in-person auctions, and the strategies used in each are different.

eBay accepts valid bids right up until the end of the auction, and then no more bids are accepted. All bidders have exactly the same opportunity to place a valid bid while the auction is ongoing. There is no need to react or respond to other bidders' bids when bidding yourself.

The winning bid amount is determined by the second highest bidder's amount; at the end of the auction, the high bidder wins and pays up to one bid increment above that.

Because of that, many veteran bidders recommend deciding in advance the most you are willing to pay for an item taking into consideration any shipping or taxes, and then bidding the appropriate amount once, as late in the auction as you are comfortably certain you can. If the amount is a round number, consider adding a few odd cents to avoid a possible tie which would go to the earlier bidder.

If you bid your maximum, the only way you can lose is if someone else is willing to spend more than your maximum and actually bids that before the auction ends, or if you tie with an earlier bidder. Bidding less than your maximum only means that you can be outbid and lose to a bid that you were actually willing to beat but chose not to.

On ebay the bidder that submits the highest bid before the close of the auction is entitled to be the winning bidder.

Someone bidding at the last seconds is called a sniper and it’s eBay legal.
Learn to bid the most you are willing to pay for an item at the last minutes and maybe you’ll win.

It doesn't even need to be in the last minutes-- you just need to have the highest bid, whether you submit that eight seconds before the auction ends or eight hours.

eBay auctions are a variation on the sealed-bid auction, where people write their bids on a slip of paper and hand it in, in a sealed envelope.  That way, anyone can bid at any time, over a period of days, at his own convenience, with the most he is willing to pay for the item.  When the auction closes, the bids are examined and the highest one wins.

How easy is that?  You can be in anywhere in the world, in any time zone, and bid on any eBay item.  No hanging around the computer, no need to nibble-bid or stress out.  When the "envelopes are opened," so to speak, you'll know if you won or if someone else wanted the item more than you did and therefore bid higher for it.

The correct and best way to bid is to wait until the last hour or so. I don't bid days ahead unless I know it's a pricey item and I need an extra reminded to be there at the end to re-bid.  If you really, really want the item, you need to be there in the end ready to increase your bid. Or you need to use a snipe program and program it to bid for you the last minute or the last 15 seconds.

The system gives everyone a fair shot at placing their highest bid through the last second of any active listing.

 You had your chance.

It would be very deceptive to not allow anyone to place their highest bid at the last second or at any other time as long as it has not ended.

Lift your left leg at midnight to start off on the right foot. Happy new Year!
