user name issue

Hello. I would like to revive a secondary ebay user name that I quit using maybe 10 years ago. I had excellent feedback on that secondary user name and ebay didn't force me to quit using it or anything like that. It just sort of fell by the wayside. I didn't cancel it or give it up - I just quit using it. But now I'd like to revive it and start using it for selected buying and selling - in addition to continuing to do so under my primary user name (which I've had for 22 years). Of course, even though I remember well my secondary user name, I've long forgotten the password. Too, I've dropped the email address associated with that secondary user name so even if I signed onto it and requested a new password, ebay would send the new password link to my old, now unused email address. I tried ebay "live chat" for help but the "live" chat ebay people (2 of them) were of no help, telling me - and I quote - they just didn't "get it." They kept thinking I was trying to change my primary, 22 year old user name WHICH I DON'T! I just want to revive my old secondary user name - and hopefully keep the excellent feedback that went with it. After giving up on "live chat" after 10 minutes of running into a brick wall, I clicked on the link for ebay to call me - which promised a "waiting time" of 1 minute! It has now been 30 minutes and no call back! Any ideas from the community? Thanks!

user name issue

Well you are writing this at 8pm Pacific Time. The night shift may be smaller than the day shift.

Or overseas.

Try during mainland USA working hours. I find about 2pm Pacific is pretty good, but I am in that time zone too.

I actually revived this ID after several years, but did not have to deal with an obsolete email address, so it went smoothly.

Best wishes.

user name issue

Several years ago eBay had a security issue and set up tighter requirements for user passwords.  Users whose passwords didn't meet the new criteria were given time to upgrade them, but after the deadline any user accounts that failed to meet the new password requirements were closed.  So it's possible that your old account is closed and unretrievable.

However, if it hasn't been closed, there is a way to retrieve it without knowing the password or email  IF you still have the same phone number.  Under the space where you'd enter the password, there's an option for "Need help signing in?" which leads to "Sign in without password" which in turn give you the option to have eBay text you a new one.  Good luck!

If you decide to try calling eBay Help again, I suggest that you do not use the terms Primary," "secondary" or "user name". Just call it an account.
