Did you mean:

unpaid item assistant

Almost 20 years selling on eBay and I've never used Unpaid Item Assistant. Never set it up or even know where to find it.

But now, suddenly, it's preventing me from opening a case (no pay over a month ago) and getting my fees back. Ebay also tells me in one place that the buyer did not pay and in another that the buyer did pay (when they obviosly did not).

Where do I find this unpaid item assistant? How do I turn it off?

Thanks!

unpaid item assistant ON..and I never selected this????

If it's been over a month, you are past the deadline.  Ebay's deadline is 30 days.

You can open an unpaid item case after 48 hrs and close it after 96, buyer gets a strike and you can get your fees back.

I don't understand. I've been trying to open a case for 3 weeks. Unpaid Item Assistant would not let me.

Unpaid item assistant opens cases for you.  That is what it does if you have it on.  I think you find it under your site preferences.

So I don't know why you were trying to open one manually if you have it set up to do so automatically.

You say you have conflicting info on whether you were paid or not.  Perhaps you need to determine whether you really were paid, because if you were, you wouldn't be able to open an Unpaid case.  If you have been paid, you are probably far out of your handling time and may have a defect.  One would hope the buyer would have contacted you on the missing item, in that case, way before this, but who knows.

Are you on your phone?  The app can be problematic.

20 years on ebay, we never turned Unpaid Item Assistant on and we never had this issue with it taking over before. We have ALWAYS handled this directly with buyers. I don't know how many more times or ways I can say it.

The buyer has zero feedback. We sent them reminders several times and never got a reply.

The item never showed up in our paid section. Also no defect from it.

It's starting to sound like yet another ebay glitch.

I see this:

Unpaid Item AssistantShow

Let eBay open and close unpaid item cases for you automatically.

I have never touched this option...then when I go into the "SHOW/EDIT" link...

I see this checked:  No thanks – I'll use the standard unpaid item process as needed, opening and closing cases manually.

So I have a default setting, but  eBay has decided to over ride???

I can see why I said one thing to a customer about wanting a few days to pay, and 2 days later he's getting the non-payment message.   > THIS SUCKS...

The deadline for filing an unpaid item case is 32 days after the transaction.  The unpaid item assistant would not block you any longer than that, so I suspect that the transaction was within the past 32 days.

Sometimes when the Assistant gets turned on by accident/glitch, the same accident/glitch also activates the option about how long you allow  separate purchases for combined-shipping discounts, which then defaults to 30 days and blocks unpaid item claims sooner than that (which you must admit would be unsporting).

Anyway, here are the instructions to turn off the Assistant. Good luck!
