Well, once again EBAY does NOTHING to back up the seller! As a twenty-year seller (TOP-RATED PLUS) who has always been blessed with 100% feedback (I go the extra mile to keep it, believe me!), I received my first negative feedback today, which at my request EBAY did not remove, and here is my story...
I ship the item, a large book, on time and USPS tracking confirms that it was delivered today, 11/23 (Saturday) at 3:42 p.m. IN THE MAILBOX. Within an hour, with NO notification from the buyer, I see that I receive a negative feedback from said buyer stating that the 'item was stolen off their front porch.' Not only did I get blindsided, I didn't even have time to send them a refund (which I did immediately thereafter) before they left the negative- but EBAY customer service or whatever it is (or isn't) would not remove the negative! What is EBAY coming too? How can an event beyond a seller's control be our fault? Did I steal the item 'off the front porch?' The buyer is probably lying anyway being a scammer, but that's not the point. The point is that this negative FB injustice is so infuriating, I don't know what to do. Its hard enough getting sales on this platform, I have to scratch and claw and use every artifice to make one measly sale, every little advantage helps, and I believe 100% feedback is a necessary tool for more sales. I personally feel more secure buying from a seller with top FB, so I assume that's the case with most buyers! I feel like just closing up my EBAY store and saying screw it, because obviously EBAY doesn't have your back and hasn't for MANY YEARS NOW!!!

@gyp*sy wrote:Everything depends on what you're selling. Sure you may have many sales, but what exactly are they? Are they big, heavy and very expensive items? Or are they light, easy to ship, throw in an envelope items. Many people sell like a store. I am not a store and I sell expensive, collectible items. Hence, my not selling in bulk. So if you fit into my category then you would know what I'm going through. Let me know if this is what you do. Thanks
Interesting. You think there are different rules for different things being sold on Ebay?
Oh so now my numbers are good enough for you. It must be that I have no experience with what YOU feel I should to advise you. Over my career of selling here on Ebay, what I sell on a regular basis has changed quite a few times. Fortunately for me, I have no need or reason to justify myself to you. If you have a specific criteria for others that can advise you, you might want to post that. However you have hijacked this thread, so you really should start your own thread, outlining your issues, questions and do your best to tailor it so only certain people can reply that meet with your approval.
You have a very myopic view of things. That is rarely a good thing.

When you list your item you are required to pick the carrier you wish to use. If something was prefilled in for you, you need to change it to what you want to use. You are totally responsible for any item sold until it is delivered. I have sold many large and fragile items. I have had a few damaged and had to refund my buyer and file an insurance claim if possible. I have no idea what you mean by ebay told you it was cheaper and had the label made.
Edit--you really should start your own thread to not cause confusion with the original poster.

Did you sell items that cost over $1,200? I see you sell items for $7.99 or around $20. Its easy to wrap paper patterns and small stuff. Tell me you would reach into your wallet to refund someone over $1,200 right away without going through the proper procedures. Obviously when items cost this much, they are packed with proper care. Believe me, I would accept help if is coming from someone who falls into the same category of selli g items that cost over $1,000. Sure if you sell cheap items you can take a chance. I wouldn't mind that myself. I'm listing expensive items so I can pay bills. I just lost my spouse and need the money. The buyer didn't care that I just lost my spouse, and i even gave them a discount. I'm going through alot right now and I don't want to be upset any further. So please forget I even said anything. All of these responses are too much to handle right now. Its sad but Someday everyone will be in this position. Ebay keeps making new rules. It was better back when I started with them years ago.

Having to select a carrier depends. For example on my listings I selected Economy Shipping because it gives me a couple extra days. I always ship via USPS, but Economy shipping does not call out USPS on my listings.

You are way too hung up on things that don't matter. You are unwilling to listen to anyone that doesn't agree with your point of view or have sold at a certain level. Which makes no sense at all. The rules for a seller are not different.
NOT a soul on this thread has even suggest what you are saying in this post. You are just grasping at saying stuff to justify your position of not listening to anyone but yourself. Which you have a right to do.
For me, it doesn't matter one way or the other. You have made up your mind, you can live with the results. I have no need to spend any more of my time on someone that has no desire to listen.

Not obvious. In fact, it seems obvious from the outcome that the items were not packed with enough care.
No one here knows what's going on with your personal life, and we don't need to. Your spouse leaving you sucks, I get that. But it doesn't affect what eBay or your buyer requires of you. It's business, not personal.

That is NOT actually a negative feedback. A negative FB has a red doughnut. Your explanation of the situation is very good. What did you expect eBay to do, exactly? You handled this very well. Would you really abandon eBay because of a FB that's not even a negative.? Your FB score is still 100%.
