undeserved negative feedback

A buyer posted negative feedback after keeping an item not his, then claiming he never received his intended item-YET, the post and online tracking show delivery. He left damaging feedback, and because he has "private" status, I can't leave feedback nor respond to his negative for other sellers to see. It's just wrong that theives can manipulate eBay's system for their benifit...and to the detritiment of an honest seller. If you agree, tell eBay enough with thsi feedback system: It needs to be fair."Private "status should not be able to leave feedback.

Re: undeserved negative feedback

You have replied to the neg.

And since May 2008, sellers have been unable to leave buyers negative feedback, it isn't because the buyers feedback is private.

Sellers are also not allowed to leave a positive rating with neg comments.

Re: undeserved negative feedback

By that, do you mean you sent them the wrong thing?  Yeah, you earned that neg and technically,  they never did receive their item.

Re: undeserved negative feedback

OP, if you sent him the wrong item then technically it IS his now. It would be nice if he helped you out by sending the incorrect item back, but he is under no legal obligation to do so.

Re: undeserved negative feedback

Which ONE?? Ohhh. I see it now! Apparently your items must attract some really bad buyers, since you've had 5 negs, accompanied by some pretty nasty comments during the past six months. If I were you, I'd focus on what I can do to improve my customer service in order to avoid accumulating more negs. And FYI, we CAN see your comments on those negs. The responses to this particular buyer sound somewhat retaliatory. Sometimes, no response is better, or just a simple "Buyer received full refund." That would put you in the more favorable role of one who chooses to take the high road and remain professional when dealing with ALL customers. Buyers will look at that and realize who is probably being honest about the outcome of the transaction.

I would recommend trying to remain professional in any and all communication with buyers. A couple of the negative feedback writers stated that you had sent emails that came across to them as threatening. This IS a business, and you're not going to have satisfied customers 100% of the time. Just remember, though, that it's in your best interest as a seller to always be professional and courteous, even if it's with a fake smile and gritted teeth.
