Did you mean:

this would be nice..

okay, we have all been there..the Buyer thats messages you making an offer on a listing thats not listed as a "Best offer" item  & telling you they can buy it cheaper at Blah Blah Blah, eBay should make & enforce a Rule that penalizes these Annoying Buyers.

Re: this would be nice..

I just have to add a lil buyers story, and perhaps you may rethink the bbl thing. Tho it wouldn't have mattered here.

I found a pair off earrings that I very badly wanted to add to my collection, but they were about 40 bucks out of my price range. Put them on my watch list and waited for a few months to see if they would go on sale, nope.

Went in to the VERY lengthy TOS, and after a few paragraphs found, "feel free to make an offer." So I did, and it was not 'too' lowball, still a lot of $$$ for me, but I REALLY wanted them. No reply from the seller, not even a NO, get lost.

Long story short...found the same earrings (it's a designer from the 80's) newly listed at FORTY bucks cheaper...they are mine now. And I bought 3 other pairs from the same seller. About 150.00 worth.

Pretty rude of the original seller you were interested in buying from to write "feel free to make an offer" then not even acknowledge it.

Glad that karma worked in your favor though and you eventually found them for the price point you were comfortable paying, that must have been very satisfying!

Yes, it is very annoying!  But, we just have to stay professional and thank them for their offer and let them know we are unable to sell at that price.

And we have the option to BLOCK THEM if we wish to keep from hearing from them ever again.

I tell them "thank you very much for your interest But I'm not able to sell this item at that price at this time, have a nice day 🙂 "   to be Honest I kinda forgot about the Blocking option, I didn't think the Blocking option worked for messaging tho? Smiley Indifferent

It is my understanding that you can block messages from someone who is not engaged in a transaction with you (i.e., anyone who has not actually purchased one of your items).

This is true.

thanks for that info, all this time I thought the Blocking option just stopped the Party from buying from you, I been doing this a few years & don't claim to know everything unlike some folks I see replying to topic's here, they are so Smug & arrogant they act as if they wrote the ebay Bible & single Handedly invented eBay. laughing

It was satisfying...I gasped when I saw them here for so much less $$$ and have worn them out once already. I love them!

They cannot penalize a person for trying to get something cheaper. Sometimes these same people then go on to purchase the item at full price, so be careful with the blocking on them. If they offer you a riduculously low offer then you just ignore the message, or you can respond. Thanks for contacting us, our prices are firm. Thanks for the offer. The low ballers then go away on their own, to the bottom of the bucket prices.

Actually, a seller can block anyone for any reason that they do not wish to do business with.  Frankly, I do not consider it penalizing someone.  It is simply that I don't wish to do business with them.  They are absolutely free to try to get something cheaper, but if I don't have the Best Offer option in the listing, they would be better off not trying to get the item cheaper from me.

If I'm running an auction, they're not going to get it cheaper than the starting bid I've set for it.  Placing a bid is the best way to make an offer in such a case.
