I complaine about eBay sometimes. There are things that need to be complained about.
But sometimes eBay stands up for the seller and that also needs to be recognized. On my main account I had an unscrupulous buyer directly threatened my feedback if I did not give him a discount. I explained to him that his reasoning was flawed and I wasn't going to give him any type of discount just because he threatened my feedback. Then in place of filing a claim on eBay they filed a claim through PayPal. I told the PayPal team the same thing I told the buyer. That his claims were completely fraudulent and he had tried to threaten my feedback on eBay and I was not going to give him any kind of refund. I then told PayPal the only way this buyer is going to steal money from me is if pay pal gave it to him because I will not.
After reviewing his case they filed in my favor. Then the seller left me the negative feedback as he said he would.
I then called eBay customer service and pointed out that this seller threatened me in a manner that goes against eBay regulations and explained to them how he tried to do an end run around eBay through PayPal. After being placed on hold the customer service employee said he reviewed the messaging (whether or not he contacted PayPal I do not know) and said the the buyer was in clear violation and the negative feedback would be removed. And it has been removed.
THANK YOU EBAY.
And the word to all other sellers.
When you have a buyer that you know is jerking you around for an amount that is big or small make sure you report them to eBay and explain what has happened. Even if you are so concerned about your feed back than you knuckle under and give in to the scam with a refund then fike a complaint explaining you paid out of fear. EBay does use this information in order to try and help sellers. They have a difficult job balancing the complaints from both sides and I believe often err on the side of Internet shoplifters but filing complaints against scam buyers helps them in making their decisions properly. EBay cannot know if a buyer has a history of bad behavior unless we tell them.

Good for you and good for eBay. Thank you for standing up to this buyer, your actions help, IMHO, all sellers.
Best of luck to you in the future.

That's called feedback extortion, and it is actually against Ebay policy.

"The buyer isn't allowed to threaten to use feedback or detailed seller ratings in an attempt to force a seller into providing:
If you do get an extortive message, and the buyer does wind up leaving negative feedback, you have to call and get it removed. You may have to give the link to the policy depending on what kind of rep you get hold of - from my understanding many do not know policy.

Thank you for your post. So refreshing. I applaud your outlook.
Sadly there are unethical people on both sides of the equation. I'm sorry you ran into one and I'm glad the feedback was removed.
