survey for new ebay features

Did anyone else receive a email saying based on their selling stats they were being offered a $250 gift card to participate in a trial and survey of a new eBay feature? Well I got one, said it starts today the 15th, but when I try to follow the link to participate it tells me the survey is not currently active?

Any one know what's going on with this?

Nope i didn't give anyone any information, I did not participate in any survey. I disregarded it after all the responses on this thread. Not worth any security compromises, thank you for your input and everyone else's catches that i missed from reading the email so fast.

One strange thing is, I get emails from legit eBay stuff all the time that doesn't go to my eBay messages.

For example why they wouldn't remove a negative feedback after it was escalated 3 times by the escalation department because they flat out saw how the negative feedback was predatory and violated multiple eBay policy's. That feedback revision team that is "offline" seems to be a big joke btw. How could multiple representatives know that it violates policy and should be removed but that team disregards all the red flags with the feedback and the messages the buyer sent me trying to extort me to sell them items at lower prices lol.

I also got one that didn't go to my eBay messages when I asked for a late shipment defect to be removed due to me having covid and not being able to go to the post office. I had communicated with the buyer and they were ok with it. When I originally called in about it, the rep read through the messages and said since I communicated with the buyer it was an acceptable reason for a late shipment and the defect would be removed.

I got an email with no eBay message from whatever team it was escalated to that said they wouldn't be removing the feedback and I should change my shipping window, which was a huge joke. Getting covid is unforeseeable and why would I extend my shipping window which in terms would attract less buyers, and also encourage laziness to not ship items quickly. I got back on the phone with a rep and discussed it with them and they also thought it was terrible advice and terrible customer service. They put me on hold and contacted that team and got the defect removed for me. They also gave me advice that in the future to communicate it with a buyer and discuss cancelling the sale and reprocessing the transaction as its hard to get these teams to remove defects unless the power is out or there is documented weather conditions that prevent you from getting your item shipped. That statement alone shows flaws with eBay, she ended the call explaining that these teams are so backed up that they almost never actually read into the circumstances and just close you out with a scripted email.

"One strange thing is, I get emails from legit eBay stuff all the time that doesn't go to my eBay messages."  As do we all.  It isn't strange, it is necessary to communicate with members.

Yes, not every message from eBay goes to both your Messages page here and your off-eBay email address as well. Some go only to one location or the other, so not getting copied on something at the "other" location (whichever one that might be) does not indicate a scam.

I can also say that in general, that solicitation for a survey does not indicate a scam; I have participated in several such surveys, focus groups, home projects, etc. over the years, and the promised $250 for 2½ hours of interview is not unreasonable.

But any scammer can set up a fake invitation, such as to phish login credentials, so all that matters is whether the actual invitation you received this time is real or fake. Never mind how many real or fake ones you have received in the past. Before responding, you need to check the headers of the message you received, and do a rollover scan (with your cursor) of the link for the response, and see where that goes.

A scam pitch can still be dressed up with official logos and other links such as to real Help files and such. What matters is where the Reply link is going. It's much easier to review this on a desktop than on a mobile device, so if you get an interesting invitation, wait to examine it at home before making your next move.

...customer service reps that don't have a good sense of American culture always seem like they are just there for a pay check to me. I...

Why else work?

I was told by 10 reps over the phone they would be removing the feedback as it violated multiple ebay policys and fell under buyers remorse. They refused to remove and said it didnt violate policy contradicting every single one of what the 10 live representatives I spoke to....

you can find eBays customer service phone number on google quite easily if you want to call them.

Oh my sweet summer child....

It's a reference to some newbie sellers who when they get a sale from a low or zero feedback buyer, they get nervous/suspicious and look up the buyers address (only available after the sale) on Google Maps or similar sites. It's generally regarded as over the top.

Not aimed at you at all.
