someway to avoid "item you selected has ended, but we found something similar" completed listings?

When looking at completed listings is there someway to bypass the useless " The item you selected has ended, but we found something similar." redirect?

clicking the "view original listing" may not seem like much effort but I'm currently looking up over 100 items, and if I look at 10 listings for each that's 1000 clicks not to mention time wasted.

Thanks.

Re: someway to avoid "item you selected has ended, but we found something similar" complet

The only workaround i've found is to right-click the "product ratings" link, which still pops up an active listing instead of the completed one you're trying to view. This seems to be still triggering the "The item you selected has ended, but we found something similar." bar that allows clicking through to the completed listing.....

This change (redirect to active item with no ability to view the completed one I clicked on) is happening on ~30% of the items I have been trying to view the last 2-3 days. If this becomes a permanent change, will severely slow my process down... As someone else said above, the value of most items I list are determined by the condition, it's not a simple binary for me of "What does new sell for, what does used typically go for".... extremely helpful for me to be able to compare a couple other solds to get that price range right.

Try viewing those listings on ebay.ca instead of ebay.com -- for some reason listings remain on the Canadian site longer than on the US site.

I didn't see this post before and just made a similar one.  It's a completely terrible "feature" and I hope they remove it soon.  As I said in my other post, people click "sold" items to....wait for it...SEE sold items.   You're going to get one impulse sale for every who-knows-how-many people you annoy with this "feature."  Is lessening the experience of hundreds of people (which accumulatively pushes them toward eventually quitting the website) worth getting that one impulse sale?  Would that user have likely bought something anyway through the search bar?  Whoever is responsible for this mess really needs to consider if its a good idea for ebay overall in the long run.  Ebay depends on buyers and sellers alike, and there is more competition than ever these days.  Why make things harder for sellers who are trying to price items correctly and risk pushing them to other platforms?

Not necessarily. Some users search for items to buy on Google, and Google may turn up a link to an eBay listing that happens to have ended. eBay would rather serve those potential buyers a similar active listing that can be purchased rather than an ended item that cannot.

To make things easier for buyers who are spending money on purchases, as opposed to sellers doing research, which may help that specific seller to slightly undercut competing sellers, but which does not add directly to eBay's bottom line the way an additional buyer's purchase would.

Posted about this very issue yesterday as a matter of fact. It's infuriating why they change things that don't need to be changed. In fact as a suggestion, I think we should be able to have 2 separate logins for eBay. Similar to Seller's Hub. Once logged in as a Seller we should have access to past listings and be able to view current listings as a Seller and not as a Buyer. I am so tired of getting Offers from Sellers about listings I glanced at so I can make my own listing. I have to decline a lot of offers from Sellers because of this. If eBay would simply allow us to be logged in as Sellers to research and make new listings then I would hope the system can differentiate between a Buyer and a Seller and not notify a Seller that someone is looking at their item.

Also as a work around and a bit tedious you can currently still see the original listing in the Sold Listings from the App. Or at least I can on my Android.

Lately a lot of listings when clicked from sold search are redirecting to the product page without any link to view the original listing.

There are a few workarounds. One was posted by lacemaker above with the no redirect code in the URL.

The other was mentioned in the first response above and that's to locate the item through Product Research (formerly Terapeak). When you click through that tool it will take you to the original item page without redirecting. At least that's been my experience.

Walk without rhythm, it won't attract the worm.

Ummm....no. "Some users search for items to buy on Google..." is such a small percentage since a lot of people will just Google things if they want to see the item on more than one platform than ebay.

Researching prices is more about seeing what's something is worth to people at the current time rather than undercutting. Yes people do it to see what the lowest price is and put there's slightly lower but it would be more helpful to look at active listings to do that.

You need to be able to research listings because of seeing the value in variations of items. Especially things like trading cards or other collectibles - condition, one color is more valuable than another, one with a signature (which comes up when searching for a "similar listing" which is not similar at all if you're a buyer or seller looking for a signed item.

I'm amazed at this change - and the unusable "feature" happens to me all the time with trading cards so if it doesn't for you count yourself lucky.

In addition to all the ridiculousness listed here and I am frustrated by (I should be listing things right now!), I searched the community for this topic and saw similar posts from as far back as 2018. Things seem to go back and forth (also with the "remove all photos" link which is now gone for me in listings)  here with no effort into really finding what works the best in the most efficient manner for both buyers and sellers.

I end up having to use third party sites like pricechart to see what things actually sold for. Unfortunately sports cards aren't on there but it's helpful for other things like Pokemon.

Oh and I actually sold 1 thing on Bonanza! So one step in the direction of dumping ebay (sarcasm since I know someone will read that literally). At least I paid less fees.

Re: someway to avoid "item you selected has ended, but we found something similar" complet

I came across this same problem a few weeks ago. Mercifully, it stopped, but tonight, it started again.

Whenever I want to peruse ended listings contained within my watch list, that's all I want to see.

I don't want eBay to "find something similar" for me. It clutters up the screen and makes viewing of ended items difficult.

If I need to "find something similar", I would much prefer to use the search function and do it myself.
