I sent someone a second chance order but I rarely get an order that way. I rarely have the situation either. This time I had a second copy in the same condition. So they'd get it without being bid up. It has been less than a day since the auction ended. So you would think it would result in an order. We'll see, maybe they will surprise me and accept it.

I have had great luck with second chance offers. I usually make the offer for three days. Most of the time if the buyer really wants the item, they accept it right away.
When, I first started making second chance orders, I tracked them and my record was for every ten offers, I would get eight that accepted. So, with these results, I decided to start making the second chance offers on the auctions that I had multiple quantities of.
I also found that the second chance offers that weren't accepted were the ones where the bids were a little higher than what I would get for the item. Most of these appeared to be where two bidders got in a bidding war. When this would happen, because the aution went a little on the higher side, the buyer's don't usually accept the second chance offer. However, every now and again even though the buyer that lost the original auction bid a little higher, they do accept the second chance offer. I personally have had great luck with second chance offers.
I have had my fellow sellers here tell me when you offer a second chance offer buyers don't accept because they already know you have another one and they will wait to see if you are going to end up listing it, Those buyers are willing to chance it, in hopes of maybe getting it cheaper.
I feel like you never know. What have you got to loose? All the buyer can do is not accept.
Remember too, this weekend is a long one and the buyer may be busy getting ready for it and just hasn't had the time to consider your offer!

Turned out he DID buy the book from the offer! Knock me down with a feather.

Great to hear it worked out. Just have to be patient with the buyers during these times.
Like I said in my previous post, second chance offers have been good to me over the years.
